Squeekboard could also always use ZWLR LAYER SHELL V1 LAYER OVERLAY as an alternative. However, fnf as the keyboard is an exclusive zone, this has the drawback of rendering the home bar above the keyboard, which is the opposite of how we now handle it. (The term above refers to y-direction, but the one on top refers to layer.)
