Had the same issue with Telegram (on Manjaro Phosh, but it looked and did the same on Mobian or some other as well), and the point is that it's near impossible to create a new account without an old one. It just won't send the verification code as a SMS, it sends to an existing Telegram instance. So creating it with my phone didn't work, wife's didn't work (no Telegram either), daughter's did (has Telegram). But then I had her identity.
So I had to create a new account within this clone of her identity, which meant another security code. Nice touch is that this time I didn't have to retype it, the confirmation went instantaneously and I was finally me. Daughter was also me for a while... Then repeated the process for my desktop (repeated me, on Mint) and wife's laptop (also Mint, separate account). That works.
Daughter also had to do something on her Telegram to make sure she's not me and to revert to her original account.
So it won't grow from seeds, only by cloning and then identity change.
