I was nodding along in agreement until reading this. I have Sennheiser HD 350BT Bluetooth headphones, and they worked the first try. This is with Manjaro+Plasma. So I don't think the Bluetooth audio issue is universal.
Yes, I was able to get bluetooth audio/mic to work by switching profiles.
