After a few seconds of effort my associate had a stupid look on their face holding the connector cable but the center pin from the pinecil was jammed tight into the barrel connector.
Fortunately I was able to re-insert the pin and solder the broken power line back together, though certainly not as strong against a similar attack it works again over USB C (obviously) and the repaired barrel power port too so all is good.
Pinecil DC Jack is 5525 type which means 5.5OD 2.5mm ID, don't force jam the 5521 plug. The 2.5mm ID stick is too large for 2.1mm ID hole.
Read the Pinecil label, clearly stated 5525 type
That person breaks stuff, but IMHO worth posting the warning not as a complaint but as 5521 is common and plenty of stuff breakers out there will not read or understand the label.
Original planning is using 5521 socket instead of 5525. However, there is no 5521 type for such type of socket :-(

This one?
This appears to be a 5521(5.5mm outside diameter X 2.1mm inside diameter) which is the wrong size though very common for 12v power.
