So we have two pinephones, same version, one works with our cell service provider without too many complications, and the other one will not work No matter what we do. Thoughts? We got mine running on Arch with Puretalk. We may try his at some point in another provider. But it is just so odd that his Will not work with Arch/Puretalk and mine does.......

You have proven the modem works? A hardware problem with the modem is the first thing that pops into my head.
It would help to give more detail about exactly what does and doesn't work, such as whether the SIM is detected, whether there's any signal strength etc. Details of any debugging you've already done too, so we can avoid things you've already tried.
He re-flashed Arch after the Provider initiated the SIM card and it now works. There is a steep learning curve for beginners. Thanks to all of you for being so helpful and forgiving!
