WiFi enabled but refuses to connect
#1
Bug
Brand-new pinebook pro. Factory KDE Manjaro.

I turned on the wifi hardware switch and I see `wlan0` in my interfaces. If I click the NetworkManager icon in the taskbar, I see all the wifi networks in my area.
If I click on one and type in the password, it'll spin for 30 seconds and then ask for the password again. I tried with `nmcli` too. Same result: just keeps asking for the password, even when I know it's correct.

What do I do?

You mean the privacy switch? Once you've done that, you need to either poke the driver so that it talks to the wifi chip again, or reboot the machine.

Try the following, and if that doesn't work, reboot, as it didn't seem to work for me, and going by the latest on the wiki, should have.

Code:
sudo tee /sys/bus/platform/drivers/dwmmc_rockchip/{un,}bind <<< 'fe310000.dwmmc'

Hi Pfeerick,
I am a Rookie with Manjaro, bought a pinebook pro.
Istallation worked well, but wifi does not connect. NM shows no networks at all.
Any idea? Thanks.

I've tried rebooting a few times. I also tried booting the xfce and i3 manjaro images off an SD card, and those also had the same bug. But when I flashed the Pinebook Debian image to the SD card and booted from that, the network connected fine. So presumably it must be a Manjaro issue.

@andreas.nauer  There is a known issue with that latest PBP shipments where the privacy switch for the wifi was left disabled. Meaning you need to and hold the pinecone key + F11 for three seconds. If the NUM lock led blinks twice, WiFi is enabled, but you'll need to restart your PBP before it works. If NUM lock blinks three times, you just disabled the WiFi, so press and hold the pinecone key + F11 and it should blink twice. And you'll need to restart your PBP.

@cardboardmaster I've been running Manjaro on mine since around February/March, and WiFi has been working fine. I just double checked as I installed the latest batch of updates to the stable channel, and it's still running fine, so I don't know what's happening there for one distro to work, and another to not work.

ugh i just figured it out

it turns out that what I thought was my 2.4GHz band was actually my neighbour's wifi. my landlord only has a 5GHz. Same SSID except for the "-5G" Tried the 5, tried the 2.4, restarted, kept trying the 2.4.

this has been a problem for me for days! talk about pebkac Dodgy

How rude... you'll have to have words with that landlord! Big Grin Big Grin

All that matters is you got it working, and no Pinebooks were harmed in the process! Blush
