Differences between Braveheart Edition and UPorts Edition Pinephone?
#1
Hello,

Would you mind detailing the motherboad revisions between braveheart and the ubuntu touch edition?

Thank you!

EDIT: They seem to be detailed here and here:

Hey, also will the revised board be available for purchase or is this something we could do ourselves considering the sim was rewired as ub-ports put it?

Also, were there any tuning of antennas so does replacing only the mainboard is enough?

Are all of the problems found in Braveheart edition were corrected?

If I understood well, this may still not the final edition...

I think they were referring to the change from the development (Don't be evil) phone to the brave heart edition.

I do not know if revising the phone hardware for (current) Ubuntu Touch is or would be advisable
since it is currently being built from the old Ubuntu 16.04

If they do do revisions,  (Hopefully) they will likely be general hardware improvements not particularly aimed at Ubuntu.

I read some old UBports forums,  they want to use 16.04 just long enough to 'make it work'

But their longer term next project was stated to be Ubuntu 20.04.

Braveheart is 1.1, UBPorts is rev 1.2. So no, this is further changes.

An important issue. Thanks for this thread

"UBports 'Community Edition' devices are distiguished by a new motherboard revision and a custom backplate bearing the UBports name and logo" is about as vague as it could be. (See https://ubports.com/blog/ubports-blog-1/...e-open-271)

A comprehensive list of hardware revsisions including if possible the problems that are trying to be mitigated by such revisions would be very instructive and helpful for those of us with BH editions who are willing and able to purchase the new UCE version if there are sufficient reasons beyond just supporting the Pine64 work and community.

You guys should sell backplates for all the official distros -- I'm waiting for the Plasma Mobile Edition. Different colored backplates would be nice too. Don't need anything fancy like mother of pearl or mystic purple, just white and red so I can remember which one is my burner. Smile

Is there a complete list of hardware changes on PCB rev 1.2? It would be nice to know what issues were fixed in the new revision.

I seemed to have found the detailed changes:
