Of course no kernel changes are required.
The scripts and dts|dtb changes will be available later this evening; no worries.

The scripts and tutorial are complete and available for testing:
Please read through the entire blog post completely and carefully before doing anything; should you desire to test this fix, please contact me on irc and let me know ( I appreciate any and all feedback ).
I have made every effort to test this code ( and automated service ) on my Rock64 production test system ( I used xenial-minimal ) and things are looking promising; I will post back here when enough people have tried it and we're comfortable that its safe to recommend to everyone.
If you don't want to be a guinea pig, please wait until I post the go-ahead before trying any of this.
Thank you!

I have updated the tutorial and made a minor change;
... I have taken out the requirement to place the start in rc.local. We need it to start earlier -- so we're going to enable the systemd service to trigger at boot-up.
Please review the tutorial entirely before attempting the fix; it has now been tested on multiple system (two people) and looks like its going to work well.
Thanks

Thanks for the fix. I am glad it is a software fix.
Tomorrow (Saturday here).. I will look at the instructions, and give it a whirl.
Jake
[Edit: I had a few minutes, and went and applied this to a Xenial Mate image. It worked perfectly.
Thank you for the fix]

This is not a big deal (to me) .. and maybe not related, but ...
Now that I have applied the fix, I see that the green connect led, on the ethernet port is not lighting up. Yellow one still blinks, and ethernet is working perfectly fine, just the green led, doesn't light up.
Not a big deal .. and maybe it just happened to die, when I did the fix.
Just curious, anyone else see this, or is it just me?

Mine is lit; the green LED is a link light; no link no light. If you have a link and the light is out, then there is something wrong ( more likely than not the LED when out ) ; happens.
Again, my link light is ON. I have not looked at the link light when I power cycle the usb; I'll let you know though if it goes out.

Yea, that is what I am thinking ,, it is just the link led went out ..it happens. Doens't bother me to much, my ethernet is working fine. On most PC's the ethernet port is in the back, so you wouldn't even know it, unless you looked.

The link light is now working.
I had done a couple of restarts, to test the usb power fix .... Once I did a full shutdown, power-off, then re-boot, the link light now works fine.
Sorry about that, but .. now if anyone see's this, they will now know to do a full shutdown, power off, and reboot.

which image ?
Just reseived my ROCK64, installed the Debian LXDE 20170809 to microSD card, booted. USB keyboard and mouse (connectred to USB 2.0) worked before login/password window, but then mouse and keyboard stopped working. Tried to connect my mouse and keyboard via an active USB hub with the same result!
They work with stock Android image, but not stable.
May the problem be in the insufficient power supply? - I use 2.5A PSU.
