[Question] Migrating to Pine64.

Hello,

I have a few collection of SBC's and some are running the OLD Raspbian Wheezy. My question is simple, is it possible to migrate from one of the other boards to the Pine64 by simply moving the microSD card? Or is there another way? I need a little more kick for my servers, I think the pine64 is a safe bet.

No. Simply moving sd card will not work. You could probably move the root filesystem (minus kernel related things) and that could potentially work. It is difficult to say would your software run without knowing more about it.

The Pine64 is a different architecture than something like an Raspberry Pi.  @janjwerner points out that there is a way to copy the rootfs over, I think that is more hassle than it is worth because problems might be hard to diagnose unless you really understand Linux internals.  

In general, I think that you would be better served to start over.  I have done this in the past and the good news is that basic things like config files can be reused.  In my experience the best way to do this is to run the two systems in parallel while you get the Pine fully operational.  (This always gives you the opportunity to compare and/or copy over config files.)  Once the Pine is ready then you can switch over. I would further add that I use the same process when migrating between RPis since I typically migrate between different generations. (e.g. I last went from a Pi B to a Pi 2)
