Help troubleshooting kernel panic
#1
Hi! I'm new to the SBC world, so please excuse my noobness.

I've tried multiple images on my new Rock64 and all of them, at some point, crash. The problem is that I can't see the error messages because a lot of information is output too fast. Is there a location where that information is logged? I tried checking kern.log and other logs in /var/log but coludn't find anything.

If anywhere it'd be in /var/log/syslog, that said using a Serial Console would be your best bet for capturing debugging info...

The messages don't seem to be logged to syslog, nor anywhere else...
Although once the following error did indeed show up in a log: https://pastebin.com/73tuTGUv
This is another error: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8wvrhc99k84j1j...b.mp4?dl=1 (I shot at 60 FPS but still the text goes too fast...)

I tried with different images and all show similar errors. Also tried flashing the images with both dd and Etcher. The images I tried were:
Armbian_19.11.3_Rock64_bionic_current_5.3.11_desktop.img
bionic-minimal-rock64-0.9.14-1159-arm64.img (ayufan)
buster-minimal-rock64-0.9.14-1159-arm64.img (ayufan)
rock64-debian-mrfixit-190531.img
bionic-lxde-rock64-0.9.14-1159-armhf.img (ayufan)

Most of the times, the crash happens while booting, but once in a while I manage to boot up correctly. But eventually I get a crash.

I tried with a different micro SD card, but the same happens. I also verified the SD card with f3write.

Any idea what's going on?

For anyone interested, the problem was a bad board. They're already sending me a replacement.
