Hello,
why not use a Bluetooth GPS Unit like Polaris 65 Chanel I65E . Under Remix OS it runs fine with no Problems. It used one Nokia Akku BL-5c for several hours. So you don´t Need any IO Pins on the Pine64.

Since most modern GPS receivers just have a UART interface with either NMEA or some binary protocol, a lot of different devices will work. If you need PPS support for time synchronization I saw a thread somewhere here on the forum, can't remember if that works out-of-the-box yet... I use a http://www.drotek.com/shop/en/home/613-u...ss-xl.html usually...
Come have a chat in the Pine IRC channel >>
