I did eventually get the keycap back on, but it did not solve the problem. I tried to fiddle with the cap, and took it off and replaced it again, but that didn't solve the repeating problem. With the key cap off, everything works fine, so I have decided just to leave the cap off for now. Other than that, the Pinebook Pro has been enjoyable to use.
