Messed up, PBP does not start after write_spi_flash
Posted by: bnjmnhg - 04-02-2020, 03:33 PM - Forum: Linux on Pinebook Pro - Replies (10)

Hello everybody,
I'm rather an amateur about Linux, but I'm super enthusiastic about PineBookPro.

Mine came 2 weeks ago, but I didn't really like Debian.

So I was planning to switch to Ubuntu (With Gnome3 ) and for this purpose I copied the Bionic Mate image (https://wiki.pine64.org/index.php/Pinebo...ionic_Mate) to an SD card as a first step.

I was able to boot from the card. :-)
As next steps I tried to install Ubuntu directly on the PBP. After a whole evening, in which I didn't get any further, I got the idea to try it out with this: https://wiki.pine64.org/index.php/NOOB#U...oot_to_SPI

Then unfortunately ( to be honest, I don't really understand what Iwas doing) I executed "rock64_write_spi_flash.sh".
When it was finished, I restarted. That was probably the second mistake.

Now the device does not boot anymore.
No matter if I start with USB stick, with SD card or without any medium at all: The screen stays black and the PowerLED flashes. Nothing more happens.

Has somebody has an tip for me: How do I get the device to boot again?

mobile data - always in use?
Posted by: someGermanGuy - 04-02-2020, 12:53 PM - Forum: PostmarketOS on PinePhone - Replies (13)

how can i turn off mobile data?
i somehow have the feeling that mobile data is used whenever it is on.
and since i was not able to disable it, it eats my balance on the new prepaid contract

how can i check if it is on? is wifi higher priorized than mobile data?

  Touchpad broken?
Posted by: rookieone - 04-02-2020, 11:41 AM - Forum: Pinebook Hardware and Accessories - Replies (4)

Howdy all!

Starting today the touchpad on my Pinebook doesn't seems to function anymore Sad

Mouse pointer is not moving, and touchpad clicks also do not seem to work.

I've tried several different sdcards with linux installs that I normally use, but none have the touchpad working.

Looking for HAILUCK output in dmesg shows:

Code:

To be honest I am not sure the trackpad is there (is it the mouse entry?)

I've tried Fn F2, but that doesn't help either...

Suggestions anyone?

Many thanks in advance!

p.s. Connecting a mouse works ;-)

  Manjaro IMG for A64+
Posted by: tophneal - 04-02-2020, 10:20 AM - Forum: Linux on Pine A64(+) - No Replies

Does anyone by chance have a base image of Manjaro Arm for the A64+? I know it can be created using manjaro-arm-tools, but I don't have an x86 machine I can easily boot into a Manjaro install right now.

Anyone able to point me in the direction of the requirements (size, type) of a suitable heatsink for the Pine A64+? Ordering from the USA is not a very good option right now for people in the rest of the world thanks to the ramped-up import charges, so the one they sell in the Pine store is not really an option for me.

  Charging via USB
Posted by: GloriousCoffee - 04-02-2020, 09:43 AM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook Pro - Replies (7)

I see it says 5V output on the adapter for PBP, am I correct to assume that I could charge it through any standard USB outlet given that I have the correct round connector to go into the PBP?

  Rock64 bricked after upgrade

Dear all,

First of all, a big thank to the PINE64 Team for that really good board. I have 2 at home and I am very happy to use them !

Some days ago, I did the standard update I do all the weeks, and noticed new kernel release. I did my upgrade as usual using the "apt update", "apt upgrade" and finally "apt-dist-upgrade" command. But, the board did not boot ... Please find below the boot log of the latest kernel installed on the board :

  Libreoffice 6
Posted by: CLC - 04-02-2020, 03:23 AM - Forum: Linux on Pinebook Pro - Replies (1)

Hi all

I have some compatibility issues between my writer files generated with libreoffice 6 on my desktop when intending to use them on libreoffice 5 of PBP. (for example rotated inserted images).
Is it possible to upgrade to LO 6 on PBP, as it is not on official repositories.
It appears to be a problem with dependencies.
Thanks and regards
