I’m looking for a good open source forum software. Is the forum software of Pine64 open source, and can it be downloaded somewhere?

I just got my new PineTab.

I'd like to get gcc running from the shell.

pacman does not seem to be available.

any hints appreciated on how to more ahead.

I am currently using the Pinephone CE 3BG edition with the current Arch|Phosh build.  It is using Freedom (Shaw mobile) in Canada, and calls, SMS and data all work, despite having to reset and reboot regularly. However, once I move off the fairly limited Shaw cellular network the phone never roams over to another network, of which there are two big ones in Canada, Telus and Bell.

I know many people have to manually connect to their network so I don't know if I am being a little hopeful but....

Questions:
Is anyone using the pinephone on Telus or Bell and did you have to do anything to access the network?

Is roaming part of the modem's responsibilities? Or is this a current software limitation where roaming
information from the network provider is not being used or stored yet?

Is there a manual way to provide roaming information or configuration to the modem?

Be aware, these tests are being executed using an out-of-box testing methodology. All tests are preformed with minimal interaction/setup of devices outside of: OS imaging/updating,  SIM installation, Wifi Configuration,  and Power Cycling the devices.

Conclusion: OS is not Ready for pinephone to be daily driver.


Notes: The ability to connect to a cell tower is not on this build. Error is No voice-capable modem available. Because of this all calls and texts fail. In other news the camera app (Megapixels) crashes immediately. We still got a long way to go.

Summary: 
Other than the limited info on the Wiki page, what are the plans for PineCube information? 

Detail:
Since the developer-edition PineCubes are apparently shipping (at least I have a tracking number), when will some dedicated information area be set up?  So far I don't see any resources other than the short Wiki page.  No Forum and no channels listed on any of the other chat groups (IRC, Discord, etc). 

The cube is a very different device from the other Pine offerings, so some detailed information up front would be very helpful, especially for a device that is " aimed solely for development purpose only and not a ready-to-use end product". 

If units are actually in shipping, it would be nice to have some useful centralized development info before they actually start showing  up on doorsteps.

Currently, the wiki page only describes getting and building the BSP, a process that I'm still trying to get to work (not finding the arm cc1, which is there, but I haven't found the right place to fix the paths in the ... very ... convoluted Android build system.  I'd really hoped there would be a pure-linux development path that didn't have to deal with an Android BSP, but I've learned to live with disappointment.

Hey guys just ordered the pinetime dev kit with standard shipping (no courier service) do you have a rough time of when it will come? and will i be able to stick the back of the watch on without using glue?

Got my pinephone convergence version a couple weeks ago, so I decide to see how it goes with gentoo installed on it, I created the pinephone specific packges in my local ebuild repository ( https://gitlab.com/bingch/gentoo-overlay.git ) from various sources and finally I got gentoo running on it.

It turns out pinephone is quite usable as a normal linux desktop too, I installed gdm on it and hooked it up with an external monitor and mouse and keyboard, then launched gnome wayland session, running firefox, watching youtube etc inside gnome shell is quite smooth

I received my PBP a few months ago. All has been going well since then - I haven't had any hardware issues. The ARM architecture (mostly the lack of support for many apps I was using with an x86 machine) takes some time to get used to. Zoom hasn't been working, but I'm glad to see that someone else in the forum has found a workaround using firefox/chromium. I'll be trying that soon because I need Zoom for work. Other than that I mostly just need word processing software, so this device works just fine for my needs. :-)

I'm not a tech specialist, actually more of a literary person, but I want to support open source tech for political reasons. I think it's important to have at least some understanding of the tools we use everyday, especially because our tools influence the way in which we interact with and perceive the world. So over the years I've ended up learning some light programming and soldering, just for autonomy's sake. The PBP seems pretty accessible for someone like me, with basic knowledge in linux and electronics. I hope that the new acquisition of ARM won't rain on that parade.

In any case, thanks for making a user-friendly open source laptop. This is my main device right now, and perhaps I'm overly optimistic, but I hope I'll be able to keep it running for years to come. I'll be counting on the community here if I run into roadblocks along the way.

Hi, I was attempting to edit a page on installing Lazarus and got this error

My original UBPorts back cover cracked after opening around 10 times.  I have since replaced it with a no-logo back cover, and there have been no issues at all.  

I have a wild theory that the heat treatment from the logo imprint may weaken portions of the back cover.  This is completely unsubstantiated by evidence, just an idea really.

I am posting here just for information purposes only.  If anyone else experiences back cover cracking, feel free to reply to this thread.  

You can see that it it happened right at the right side retainer post, directly under the power button.  So it could also be a simple manufacturing defect.
