Finally took the plunge and moved phone service to my pinephone, time to get on the cutting edge of Open Source.... ouch.
Can send and receive SMS, can receive calls. Can't call out.
Here is what showed in .xsession-errors
Code: ** (sm.puri.Calls:3442): WARNING **: 12:55:03.573: Error starting outgoing call ModemManager call to `13374636217': GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.ModemManager1.Error.Core.Failed: Couldn't start the call: Unhandled response '+QLWURC: "pdp active","failed","nxtgenphone"
+QLWURC: "deregister",0'
** Message: 12:55:03.606: Removing call `/org/freedesktop/ModemManager1/Call/0'
** Message: 12:55:03.607: Call `/org/freedesktop/ModemManager1/Call/0' removed
And logread:
Code: Nov 20 12:55:03 pinephone daemon.info [2839]: <info> [modem0/call0] user request to start call
Nov 20 12:55:03 pinephone daemon.info [2839]: <info> [modem0/call0] call state changed: unknown -> dialing (outgoing-started)
Nov 20 12:55:03 pinephone daemon.warn [2839]: <warn> [modem0/call0] couldn't start call: Couldn't start the call: Unhandled response '+QLWURC: "pdp active","failed","nxtgenphone"^M ^M +QLWURC: "deregister",0'
Nov 20 12:55:03 pinephone daemon.info [2839]: <info> [modem0/call0] call state changed: dialing -> terminated (unknown)
Have the AT Command Reference for the modem, +QLWURC is not anywhere in it so digging there is going to be fun. I'm on a paygo plan and it is charging me for two minutes of use on every attempt. Occasionally I hear a fraction of a second of what sounds like the greeting for the called number. So it isn't just failing instantly, something happens first.
Random bits that might matter. The phone has no data plan so data is disabled in the control panel. The APN settings have been set to what defaulted after the SIM went active and then to what www.bestmvno.com recommended for H2O Wireless... or would if the UI allowed input of most of the recommended settings. Even though the subscribed plan has "LTE" in the name, the phone insists on connecting to 3G, forcing 4G Only gets no service. There IS 4G service from AT&T in the area.

Modem stops working after CRUST

I've done some exhaustive testing with multiple different distributions (Manjaro, UbTouch, SXMO, Pure) on my new Manjaro CE PinePhone, and no matter what, after some time, the 4G stops working completely after unlocking the screen until i reboot the phone. I've also updated the modem firmware from the sticky post in your forums but that didn't change anything either. I've been getting conflicting information on matrix/google. Most people say they don't have those issues or very infrequently, for me its constantly doing that and I feel like I spend most of the time rebooting my phone to get it to work again briefly.
Support was unhelpful as f***, made me doubt they even read the damn ticket and really pisses me off...
Quote:We suspect that the OS build not been flashed correctly at the factory. Please try re-flash the New image OS as below step.
Instructions on how to re-flash the OS image can be found here:

The newest Manjaro Phosh build is available to download from here:

Thank you.

Is this a hardware defect? Do I have to bother with the ticket support?

I have done more experiments on my old Nexus 5 with Ubuntu Touch.
I installed Gedit (text editor for Gnome) on it, it works (except for the on screen keyboard, it never comes up at all)!
But I noticed that if you keep it open and turn off the screen, the battery will become warm and gets discharged very quickly until you close the app.
Does this happen on PinePhone under Phosh or Plasma Mobile too?
Question was put under "Manjaro" category, because this is the edition that will arrive here next week.

Network settings, where to find the config files?

I have an issue that I can't resolve. I try to setup the Pinebook pro (With Manjaro Arch Linux) in such a way that it will connect to cabled with a fixed IP and all if my USB adapter is plugged in and fall back to wireless with DHCP if that is not the case.
But Network Manager only sems to active the network if I login.
I want all of this to work regardless of who logs in.
And preferably just configure this from the CLI and not use a point, click and pray solution.
Unfortunatly the documentation in this regard is scattered and not clear to be honest.
So if someone has some good pointers to documents that do not go over all the point ane click screenshots that don't work for me but just show the config files I need to edit then I will very much appreciate it.
Regards, Hugo.
PS: I just happen to be a vi kind of guy.
It seems there is information in https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NetworkManager
So far the informaton is https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Net...NS_servers is not working as advertised.
Adding it to the eth interface with `nmcli con modify eth0 +ipv4.dns 1.1.1.1` failed for me.
Doing this the manual way did not work either.

Hello, I bought a PBP recently and I received it and used it for a bit. Its basically brand new. I really love it and enjoy it but I don't really have time to use it and I would rather sell it to someone that will use it and put the money to better use. I have the eMMC adapter and the 128 gb eMMC as well as the 64 gb eMMC. I will ship it anywhere in Europe. We can discuss the price, this includes all the import taxes(which are quite expensive) for the PBP and the accessories. I can ship it anywhere in Europe and we can choose shipping.

suggestion the broken screen issues

This broken phone screen issue has been a bing for years, but I had an idea for a long term fix.
Make the phone top layer of the sreen plastic and put a screen protector and if possible put a 1mm indent around the casing to indent it.
The screen protector is the main glass of the device so in the event that you smash your screen, and you can peel it off and put a new one on(or go with a plastic screen for a while).
The big guys in the phone world don't do this because they lose the screen repair bill they and charge and also make the phone useful for longer, so people buy new ones, they lose money.
