Hi folks!
Sorry for the noob question but what's the point of a cluster? Is it a 28 core, 14 GB RAM machine? Will an application e.g. firefox browser use the power/ram of all sopine modules together? Since the modules are connected over ethernet, how does this work?
I thought about an replacement of my x86 Intel i7 and don't know if this is the way to go for me? (just related to performance, I know about SW limitation on ARM)
Can you enlighten me?

Hi every, I wanna konw the command "flash_erase /dev/mtd0 0 0" is erase the spi to factory defsult?
After I run this command "flash_erase /dev/mtd0 0 0" and do not flash ang "spiflash.bin" to /dev/mtd0, then reboot form the sd card will be ok ?
Or after flash_erase /dev/mtd0 must be flash a new spiflash to /dev/mtd0 (erase spi flash cannot boot normally) ?
if anyone knows, tell me please, thanks.

I don't know whether to blame hardware or software. I'm using Daniel Thompson's Bullseye, I've been running it a few months.
In the past week or so the numlock suddenly sticks on, and you can't type much because all the keys with little numbers in addition to letters will only type numbers. I can't turn it off with F10/Numlock, it does nothing, other keys like brightness also don't work, there's probably firmware missing or something. It's mostly minor, but when the numlock sticks I have to ssh in from another machine and reboot it. It just happened for the 4th time.
Searching the PineBook Pro area of this forum for numlock doesn't seem to find anything, anybody else seeng this? Oh, I use the ANSI keyboard and that's up to date as far as I know.

I've seen this mentioned here in the forum. I'm interested in being able to mount the SD card from the phone to my Ubuntu desktop. I haven't seen how to install this software. It's not in the Software installer app and I don't see it when I try it via apt. Thank you.

How to get audio & HW encoding working? |

Hello,
I have been trying to make hardware encoding and audio work on the PineCube under Armbian, but it does not appear that either is supported. For hardware encoding all gstreamer plugins and similar seem to rely on a 'cedarx' device which doesn't exist, and similarly no audio device exists in the tree either, even though the audio codec for the V3/V3s/S3 SoCs is supposed to be supported since kernel 4.12.
Is there a way to make these features work under Armbian, or are there alternatives that may work better?

Hi folks,
I would like to replace my Lenovo Y580 (Intel Core i7-3630QM, 8GB RAM, SSD) in the near future with an "open source" alternative. What do you think about the performance of the RockPro64 compared to my Lenovo in real live? 50%? I have no need for 3D gaming, rendering videos or something, but I would like to have a "snappy" experience. Will I be happy with the RockPro64?
What do you think?
PS: My first though was about a Sopine cluster, but AFAIK it's NOT just a 28 core, 14GB RAM machine, right?
