I made an app I would like to get on the wiki, how does one go about doing that?

New phone, KDE desktop settings reset on reboot
Posted by: zzb0 - 09-01-2021, 05:21 AM - Forum: Manjaro on PinePhone - Replies (2)

Hello!

I got my PinePhone Convergence Package yesterday. Lots of work remains for the devs for sure, but I thought I'd ask if anyone else has ran into / solved problems of KDE Plasma desktop settings not surviving a reboot. I am getting varying behavior where some icons go back to the dock at every reboot OR the desktop just gets reset into "factory settings" entirely with all my icons / widgets / wallpaper settings gone. Any specific log files I should look at - I'm afraid I'm very unfamiliar with KDE in general.

Thanks,
zzb0

  Mobian September 01, 2021
Posted by: bcnaz - 09-01-2021, 04:15 AM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (2)

Just flashed a September 01 Nightly to an sd card,  running on a Pine Manjaro Convergent phone.

It did the normal disk 'resizing',     But there was no pop-up to help put the basic information into the phone.

Now there is not a flashlight app on the desktop,  or in the onboard Software Store. ?

I did the "Updates" via   settings > about > update,  that went normally  using the wifi...

I attempted to use the cell/data after putting in my APN info, and turned on mobile data,  both Epiphany and Firefox would not load.

Then turned wifi back on,  Epiphany loaded...  turned wifi off again,  mobile data back on,    this time Epiphany loaded via cell/data.

Calls work both directions,  while the other person can hear me clearly, and they sound clear to me,  but I sound distorted to myself on the ear piece.

The text works, both in and out.  ...

AND  in the Power App,  with wifi off,  data off  just the modem on,
While running on the battery,     it is showing between 2.0 and 2.2 watts of discharge. !

That is getting the power consumption down,  a bit lower with each release.

Pinephone won't let me enter password
Posted by: czgunner - 08-31-2021, 07:49 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (5)

I updated my Pinephone tonight and when it restarted, I cannot enter the passphrase to boot the phone. It's like the keyboard doesn't work. This is the Mobian version.
Anybody know how to help me?
Thanks!

Replace Potrtfolio with another file manager?
Posted by: nelstomlinson - 08-31-2021, 05:41 PM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (1)

I'm no Mobian Bookworm, and finding that Portfolio is a little too lightweight, and won't really do anything I want.  Is there a file manager that is more capable but still works on our tiny touch screens?

Anyone find a work around for the brightness issues from kernels 5.13/14?
Posted by: ragreenburg - 08-31-2021, 12:17 PM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (2)

I have the UBports version on the pinephone and with bother kernels 5.13 and 5.14 I get an issue where if I turn the brightness down all the way the screen goes black. I noticed a few threads on here from a while ago talking about it but was wondering if anyone found a solution?

  Gnome-contacts vs gnome-contacts-mobile
Posted by: brb78 - 08-31-2021, 09:26 AM - Forum: Arch Linux on PinePhone - No Replies

Gnome-contacts-mobile never seemed to sync with NextCloud contacts, then I replaced it with gnome-contacts and everything synced as expected... Gnome-contacts seem to pull in about 50 dependencies, perhaps the backend to communicate with the NextCloud api was in there?

Would be nice if gnome-contacts-mobile had whatever the missing dependency to minimize the gnome desktop bloat regular gnome-contacts pulled in

PinePhone UBPorts Edition stuck on PINE64 logo screen
Posted by: Giovanni Iannotti - 08-31-2021, 05:47 AM - Forum: UBPorts on PinePhone - Replies (4)

After the last update, done yesterday (30/08/2021), the telephone is failing to boot. It is stuck on PINE 64's screen.

I tried using the solution proposed here: https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=10130  (See below)
Differently from what is said there, the "Installing update" screen never appears. Instead, I get a screen that says "Awaiting command" and UBPorts logo / robot.
Using the commands described on that thread does reboot the phone, but it only takes me back to the PINE 64's screen.

Thank you.

Best regards,

Giovanni Iannotti

PS: These are the instructions I followed:

  1. Use a USB A-C cable to plug your phone into your PC
  2. Hold the PinePhone's power button for 4 seconds or more to power it off.
  3. Wait 5 seconds
  4. Hold the Volume Up and Power buttons on the PinePhone to boot into recovery. You should see the LED light red, then yellow, then green. The "Installing update" screen will appear, but a progress bar to indicate update progress will not. Ignore the "Installing update" part.
  5. Your PC may automatically mount the PinePhone's partitions. If it does, Safely Remove or Eject all of them.
  6. Open a terminal on your PC. Type
    telnet 172.16.42.1

  7. You should receive the text 'Welcome to Rescue SD Shell!'
  8. In the new Rescue SD shell, type
    umount /dev/mmcblk2p10; e2fsck -fy /dev/mmcblk2p10 && sync

  9. Once this command pipeline finishes, type
    sync && reboot -f

  Pine phone keyboard ?
Posted by: bcnaz - 08-30-2021, 07:18 PM - Forum: PinePhone Accessories - Replies (66)

I thought the Pine phone keyboard was going to be in the store soon ?

But  there does not seem to be any news here recently.

Did that get abandoned or delayed ?

Does anybody have an update ?
