  bogus heart rate values

When I turn on heart rate monitor, the displayed rate constantly varies across a wide range of numbers, and it's not just me (so I don't need an emergency hospital visit) but others I know have tried this watch and get wildly varying results

  reversed caps lock
Posted by: angeloweb - 08-20-2021, 07:20 AM - Forum: Pinebook Pro Hardware and Accessories - Replies (4)

Hi, I got a pinebook pro in April. It worked well, so I ordered a 2nd right before orders were shut down. Well, earlier this week, I tried to use that 2nd one, but there seems to be some issues with the keyboard.
The keyboard is typing all caps, until I clicked the caps lock button. Then I get lower case. The two finger doesn't seem to work for dragging. Maybe it's due to it reading a shift key pressed. I've tried pressing/tapping all of the keys in case one was stuck, but no change.
Is there a firmware or known issue that might cause this?
Thanks for any help.
Anthony

Has the Quartz64 Model B project been canceled?

  External display / display output
Posted by: Jcarlos - 08-20-2021, 05:28 AM - Forum: PineNote Hardware - Replies (4)

I'm really excited about the PineNote, I've been playing with different e-ink devices like Boox Note Air and Supernote and would love to have a Linux Opensource option to tinker with.

Just an idea of hardware support that would make it unique compared to other existing e-ink devices:

- Ability to connect the tablet to an usb-c color lcd monitor and use it as a Linux computer
- Ability to plug a laptop or computer to the tablet itself and use the tablet as an external e-ink monitor

Really looking forward to this e-ink tablet!

Suddenly WiFi signal strength is poor
Posted by: cinix - 08-20-2021, 05:25 AM - Forum: PinePhone Hardware - Replies (4)

The WiFi signal strength has become very poor on my Pinephone. I suspect it is a hardware issue and I’m looking for some pointers on how to diagnose the problem.

Some data points using wavemon:

PinePhone (approx 6ft away): -86 dBm, quality 33%
PinePhone (approx 1ft away): -62 dBm, quality 70%
Laptop (approx 6ft away): -39 dBm, quality 100%

I understand that the antenna connects from the mainboard to the inner frame which has the antenna on it. I put pressure on that corner of the phone to see if it may not have made a good connection to the case but that doesn’t seem to change the signal strength. I’ve taken the inner frame off to try and reseat it but that didn’t show any improvement.

Is there a way I can narrow the problem down to the case, the mainboard, or the connection between them? Any tips?

  Fragile SIM card connector
Posted by: hakkou - 08-20-2021, 05:03 AM - Forum: PinePhone Hardware - Replies (1)

I assume this is a somewhat known issue, but the SIM card connector pins are very fragile. One of the pins in the bottom row completely fell off after reinserting my SIM card a few times. I am not using the nano to micro SIM adapter included in the box, I am using the one that came with my SIM card originally. I know that this flaw isn't exclusive to the PinePhone but rather a universal problem with SIM connectors, but I've had other phones with a similar style of connector and have not had such issues.

deep sleep issues on multiple distros
Posted by: discogribbs - 08-19-2021, 08:52 PM - Forum: PinePhone Software - No Replies

Hello,

I hate asking because I feel like it has been asked but I cannot find it.

Over the last three or so months every distribution I have tried (mobian, UB, postmarket-phosh,plasma,sxmo, manjaro-phosh,plasma) seems to have some issue with deep sleep.  Mostly after the phone has been inactive long enough (~10 minutes) it won't wake up with the power button and will need restarted.  It just gives an led blink.  Mobian sometimes will awake but the touch screen will not respond.

Does anyone have any suggestions & information or do I need to just wait patiently?

Technically I have a UB CE phone but sometime late last year I upgraded the board to the 32GB version.  I am currently running the stable version of mobian from March and rejecting any notification to upgrade software.

Thank you for any time you give.

[UPDATE] I ended up swapping back to the 16GB board and all the deep sleep issues went away. So my guess is that I need to do some sort of firmware update to the 32GB board.

  Forgotten Root File System Password
Posted by: rridgwayjr - 08-19-2021, 07:40 PM - Forum: PinePhone Hardware - Replies (1)

Alright, so my PinePhone has been sitting for a few months, and the passwords that i thought i might of used aren't working. I get the Mobian Spash screen, the "Begin: Mounting root file system ... Begin: Running /scripts/local-top ..." text, then it asks for a password. I have tried flashing Ubuntu Touch to a microSD with the same result. When that didn't work I next flashed JumpDrive 0.8 the the microSD, and still have the same result. What should my next step be? Thanks.

  Mobian MMS/SMS text problem
Posted by: bcnaz - 08-19-2021, 06:08 PM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (15)

My Main Daily Driver,

a PMOS Convergent phone, it is using a Mobian nightly build from about July 20,(plus updates) running from sd card.

It 'Has' been working quite dependably,  just the MMS text would hang in the modem, but the SMS text make it into the chats App.

I just have to occasionally use the 'Modem Manager GUI' App to clear out those pesky MMS text.

But,  today that changed a bit,  I had 2 of the usual MMS text in there,   but I had 4 regular SMS text also in there.

Three of those regular SMS text did also find their way into the chats App.  so that's OK,

BUT  one of the regular SMS texts stuck there in the modem and and never showed up in the chats App...!

THAT  could be a real problem !

Sometimes I go days without checking/or clearing the modem.

I have been Lucky overall I guess,  I see others complaining here all the time,  but I have had almost perfect performance with Mobian

running first on my Brave Heart, and now on the PMOS convergent version.

Talk & Text have been very dependable 'for me'....   Now I will need to check for SMS text stuck in the modem on a regular basis. !

On the plus side it was in the phone ....  and having the 'Modem Manager GUI' App does make checking the modem fairly painless.

I thought I should share that as a 'Heads-Up' to others

( I have 1 Brave Heart, 3 PMOS Convergent, 1 Manjaro Convergent phone )
