Big Grin Greetings!

Hello fellow Pine Users/ Enthusiasts! I am new to this community & look forward to getting my Pinebook Pro in the next few days. I'm new to an ARM powered device, but I hope to potentially discover what these devices are all about. I have a little bit of experience with Linux [mainly Ubuntu & a tiny bit of Kali] & hope to see the difference on ARM with Linux vs. using these systems on Intel X64. As such, I hope I can contribute some useful info concerning testing various hardware with this device. I have quite a few different USB related devices I am looking forward to testing & hope someone out there can benefit from any info I share concerning. Cool

  Stuck with 1234
Posted by: tcoulon - 08-05-2022, 09:46 AM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (2)

Hi back,

These last month I was stuck with a Pinephone Pro not working (Manjaro would not update and could not connect to my phone company...)

Today I lokked at it again, installed Tow-boot and flashed Mobian instead - and made my first call.

So far, so good. The funny thing is I can't change Mobian's password (at least from GUI). Whatever i try, the password is not accepted. Should I do this from the command line? Sudo passwd <user>?

DDing mobian to emmc or microSD not starting...
Posted by: Mr.Berzerk - 08-05-2022, 08:46 AM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (2)

I have a Pine Phone ... somewhere in between.
It isn't a pine phone beta, nor is it a pine phone Pro.
It has 3GB of RAM and 32GB emmc.
I can flash any flavor of Arch linux on it, but if I try to flash Mobian to either the emmc or a microsd, the phone refuses to turn on/start. It never even makes it to the point where the power light blinks.
The minute I put arch on it, it works like a charm.

Any ideas on how to get mobian working?

  Nemomobile in July 2022

We changed architecture of Settings plugins, Camera application was updated (on virtual machine so far). Translations are getting better. We are moving packages into Manjaro repositories.

  New issue with phone calls
Posted by: kmsgli - 08-04-2022, 08:59 PM - Forum: Manjaro on PinePhone - Replies (13)

Is anyone having issues with phone calls being on the wrong audio profile and because of that you cant hear the person who called. At first I thought it was modem related as I am running the community firmware for the modem but it seems when I answer sometimes it stays in "Play HiFi quality music" sound profile and if I go into sound settings and change the sound profile to "Make a phone call" it allows me to hear the caller and be heard proper.

Is there a faster way to change audio profiles via command line so maybe I can make a script to switch fast as it seems inconsistent sometimes when I answer the phone the profile changes properly other times it does not and I need to open settings and change the profile.

This issue seems to be newer for me.

  Solar panel and battery
Posted by: power46 - 08-04-2022, 01:35 PM - Forum: Quartz64 Hardware and Accessories - Replies (5)

Hi,
as soon as the Quartz64 Model B 8GB will be available I will finally enter the SBC world.

One of the medium/long term project would be to have it solar powered with a battery.
The aim is to learn more about electronics (I know that is quite silly for only 5-10 W).

Ideally I would like to be able:

- power it via solar + battery 24/7
- be able to monitor the power consumption and generation

I have noticed that for the Raspberry Pi there is already a solution https://uk.pi-supply.com/products/pijuice-solar.

I am not looking for an end-to-end solution, more for a guide, what to buy, some sort of explanation.

Do you have a suggestion on where to start from, especially for Pine64 products?

Thanks

Who is the target audience of the PineNote
Posted by: pinesucker - 08-04-2022, 08:31 AM - Forum: General Discussion on PineNote - Replies (6)

I own a PinePhone. It is basically a toy, I was happy to see a new phone with a removable battery, unlockable, runs Linux, SD card, etc. And the price is OK, not great but OK. It's fun to play around with, and it's nice to know it will receive new distros and features for years to come, and I never have to worry about it being bricked by a dead battery. The SD card gives so much flexibility to installing OSs and moving data around.

I'm in the market for an E-Reader, so I was excited to see the PineNote listed. My excitement has dropped to 0 after seeing the specs and price. Non-removable battery? No SD card? Who is your target audience?? No Linux enthusiast wants a throwaway device that's locked to internal memory only. $400? That is totally uncompetitive with existing Android E-Readers. And without removable battery and SD card the PineNote has nothing that sets it apart.

The stated reason why SD cards cannot be included is that the case does not allow it. So use a different case? Do you really think your customers care more about a flashy metal "premium" (your words) case than having a device that lasts more than a year or two and has an SD card? I'm disappointed that Pine would even put their brand on a device like this.

  Pinecil V2 -boards only
Posted by: DrYak - 08-04-2022, 08:04 AM - Forum: Pinecil Hardware and Accessories - Replies (1)

Dear Pine64,

Same question I've asked in the blogs:

Any chance of selling only the board separately?

Given that it's 100% compatible with V1 accessories, and given that some of us already have replacement case, replacement tips, etc. we're really just one V2-board swap away from building an extra V1 iron with all the left over component.

  External USB-C storage not detected.
Posted by: lat - 08-04-2022, 03:10 AM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Hardware - No Replies

When I plug into PPP's USB-C port a storage device (microSD card via USB-C adapter), it's not detected at all (under ArchLinux + Phosh or SXMO).  journalctl -f   does not react when pluggin/unplugging the external storage.  The LED on the microSD-to-USB-C adapter blinks briefly when plugging in, so some power flows there.  Also, my PPP is connected to the keyboard case while testing the above.  Anyone had any luck using external storage via PPP's USB-C port?
