  1st boot
Posted by: chrisrook - 08-08-2022, 06:57 PM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook Pro - Replies (5)

I'm hoping some kind soul can help. My Pinebook pro arrived yesterday and booted into the installed Manjaro. After updating it requested a re-start, closed down and has not booted since. Pressing the power button brings up the green power button - but nothing happens.
Any help much appreciated
Chris

Wifi no scan results - Bluetooth adapter not available
Posted by: emsyr - 08-08-2022, 04:35 PM - Forum: PinePhone Hardware - Replies (1)

Hi. This is my first post in the forum.

I've been using my Pinephone (convergence package) as a daily driver for more than six months (PostmarketOS SXMO). Until two days ago Wifi/Bt were working correctly. Then a strange thing happened and after that I have Wifi/Bt module problem.
I was extracting an image to SD card when the phone froze and I did a hard reset. After that it couldn't mount the root partition, I reinstalled PostmarketOS SXMO (sxmo-de-sway 20220803-0523) and now I'm experiencing the following problems:

1. Wifi is working but scanning for wireless networks returns no results (like there is no wireless network in the area)
2. No Bluetooth adapter is appeared available

I also tried PostmarketOS plasma-mobile distro and I had the same two problems.

Some of the diagnostics I tried:

1. for Wifi

Code:
pine64-pinephone:~$ nmcli r
WIFI-HW     WIFI         WWAN-HW    WWAN
enabled     enabled      enabled    enabled

ifconfig command output shows wlan0.

2. for bluetooth
Code:
pine64-pinephone:~$ bluetoothctl
[bluetooth]# devices
No default adapter available

I've tried the solution described here https://gitlab.com/ubports/porting/commu..._296549402 :
Code:
sudo nmcli radio all off
sudo rmmod 8723cs
sudo modprobe 8723cs
sudo nmcli radio all on

No luck.

Needed services are running:
Code:
pine64-pinephone:~$ rc-status
...
wpa_supplicant [  started 02:05:17  (0)  ]
networkmanager [  started 02:05:17  (0)  ]
...
bluetooth                    [  started  ]
...

It seems to me that it is a Wifi/Bt hardware module failure but I'm giving it a shot here in case anyone of you mates can help me out.

Thanks in advance!

Hey all

I would like to place an order for some new toys, I live is Cape Town South Africa.

I understand that Postage is out of the question.

I would also prefer a expedited delivery as i need these for a project.

My fascination for your development start three years ago when i found these two at a transport interchange/black market, pic attached, you may think the bracket might be dodgy, but wait, I am going to solder wires to those terminals, I only need, +, -, USBx4,Reset, Power, and maybe a few gpio's

So please can someone direct me to where I can get my hands on some of your in stock products with expedited shipping delivered to my hands please, we the guys in my office.

Thank you in advance for any support.

Jason

Loud echo on receiving phone when called
Posted by: TheRealThor - 08-07-2022, 09:45 PM - Forum: General Discussion of PinePhone Pro - Replies (3)

Hello everyone,

I'm not sure if this is a hardware or software issue, my gorilla fingers broke the SIM card holder a couple of months back and I have finally had an electrical engineer sold the replacement from pinephone. The issue I'm having now and wasn't an issue before is when I call someone they have a very loud echo of themselves. I have tried every OS, I tried turning all the volumes down and I have changed a setting in Voicesomthin.conf

I'm not sure where to go from here with the trouble shooting, to me it seems when I turn all the sound controls down in the settings it help but is still quite an issue. Any help or direction will be immensely appreciated.

  how to split screen?
Posted by: andrew907 - 08-07-2022, 08:57 PM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (2)

I am comfortably set up with a Pinephone running Mobian and a Bluetooth keyboard, but it would sure be nice to be able to see two apps at the same time like in Ubuntu Touch or even in Android.

How do I do that?

Maximum size of boot MicroSD for RockPro64 and Pinebook Pro
Posted by: commiecam - 08-07-2022, 10:47 AM - Forum: Getting Started - Replies (3)

I'm getting ready to boot a RockPro64 on Armbian 22.05 and. as soon as it arrives, my new Pinebook Pro as well.  I've looked at the wiki pages, but nowhere can I find a maximum size limit for the boot microSD card.  Can anyone:

1.   Advise me if here is a size limit recognised by either system for MicroSD cards?

2.   Can a MicroSD card which is used to boot the system be partitioned, or must it be left as a single partitioned drive?

I've decided not to add an NVME card to the Pinebook Pro because, compared to the supplied drive or an SD card, they seem to be power hogs.  For its intended uses the laptop needs battery life and storage size far more than memory read-write speed., so I'm hoping to use a single, huge MicroSD as its primary disk drive.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.  Perhaps I'm being overly cautious, but I can still remember HP-1000 computers, which had odd maximum addressing problems on very large disk drives.

Thanks!

  PinePower Desktop USB-C port dead
Posted by: qeek - 08-07-2022, 09:09 AM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

I have a Desktop power supply that stopped supplying power through the USB-C port. Wireless and all the other ports work fine.

Has someone else encountered this issue? Is there any way to fix this? The wiki suggests the device is not designed to be opened.

Sad Pinephone pro doesn't boot up anymore
Posted by: giacomo986 - 08-07-2022, 09:02 AM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Hardware - Replies (2)

Good morning,

I tried to install mobian on emmc but I hadn't changed the bootloader, from that moment the phone doesn't turn on anymore.

I tried with sd card inserted, without sd card and holding down the RE button.

I tried to connect the phone to the PC but not with the lsusb command it never appears.

Is there any way to fix the phone? spare parts?

The Pinephone Pro is a beautiful project that I would like to learn more about.

Thanks for your attention,
Giacomo

  OBS Studio on Manjaro
Posted by: Fred Zyphal - 08-06-2022, 08:32 PM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Software - No Replies

Hey everybody ...

... OBS Studio is available in both the Phosh and Plasma version of the PinePhone Pro repositories, but I can't get it to work, it complains about the GPU and/or the graphics drivers.

Has anybody had any luck with that, and/or could anyone point me in the right direction?
