Until several days ago I needed no API keys to use map auto-download for OSM tiles on Puremaps, it just loaded what I needed over wifi or 4g data.
Today after a full wipe and bookworm/mobian up-to-date install I get a HTTP 403 error and it wants a source for map files.
This leads me to install OSM scout server, which is good; I want offline maps on a daily driver device and I have not spent enough time working with nav on pinephone.
I get OSM scout server setup and I can download the world basic map files but I get no options when I click the subscribe button, nothing happens except a slight change in color on the subscribe button.
Maybe OSM is not serving map tiles today, or am I missing a step for both puremaps and osm scout server?

It would be useful to me if anyone could verify a working install(version too) to see if they are getting their maps loading in OSM scout server or puremaps.

It seems that me eMMC installation is corrupted.
So I can only boot from sd card.

As https://wiki.pine64.org/wiki/PinePhone_P...o_the_eMMC says, eMMC should appear when my phone is boot on linux and plug in usb, but I see nothing with lsblk.

The wiki only says "the eMMC wasn't initialized due to applying the above explained bypass method for a too long time during the boot".

What can I do to apply the bypass to a shorter time during boot ?

I am new to the forum and wanted to ask the community a quick question about music players available on mobile Linux.

I understand the OS is still not in Beta and this request is of quite low priority, but I am keen to buy the Pine Phone Pro and the only thing holding me back is the lack of a decent music player for this phone.

I am currently using Poweramp on a Fairphone 3+ inside Ioda android, which I am very happy with, it ticks all the boxes form me including being able to play DSD files, and import and export M3U8 playlist files.

On my laptop I am running JRiver inside Qubes OS.

However I would much prefer a fully Linux phone, can anyone tell me if there are any decent music players available?

I have looked at all the usual's from the online lists, but don't know how many of them will run on the PPP, I also understand the Ubuntu Touch recently removed support for Cantata.

(edit)***Following the thread below I got the problem solved, turns out sudo su is needed and sudo is not enough permissions to flash the modem***

It has been suggested that upgrading the firmware on the modem can help Bookworm users get GPS working.
There is no mention in the troubleshooting if I cant even pass the AT commands as it shows the port busy.

I have flashed multiple OS images available from the wiki (besides Manjaro) to the eMMC but consistently get stuck at the Manjaro logo/boot screen without getting to set up the prebuilt armbian, or DietPi, or Kali, but have been hesitant to overwrite the boot partition on the eMMC itself due to the news regarding the bootloader.

Is it possible to install anything but Manjaro on the new runs of the PBP now?

has anyone had success with pika backup archives?
I cant get the borgbackup installed on PP so cant even try.

The backup app looked so easy and was optomized for mobile so I had to do it, found out now after the latest Mobian updates had me crasing in under a minute that I dod NOT have a usable backup.
I am reinstalled but I guess I am going to have to look up phone numbers and reconfigure all of my apps.
Next time it is cp /home /mnt/SDcard/backups then tar-gz it vs pikabackup.

Using my SOQuartz board with a eMMC module for last few weeks has been great performace-wise. However, every time I have to detach the module, flash new OS and reattach I wonder how long is that tiny plastic connector is going to last. I do kernel and driver development so when I use it I re-flash the OS few times per day.

So my question is. How many connect/disconnect cycles are these flat eMMC connectors usually rated for? Had people have them break already in normal use? Should I be doing something special to extend its lifetime (lubricating with plastic spray lubricant) etc?

Also, when they break, is it fairly easy to buy them? I can solder such components no problem, but buying them is another story.

Can someone point me to an image of linux/bsd that is 100% bootable on Pibebook Pro from SD card with eMMC physically removed?

I tried latest Manjaro for ARM and a custom Debian from mrfixit2001, no luck.

Do I have to write u-boot separately after burning a distro img?

I don't know what goes on in the Linux world.  I surmise that Manjaro now comes with a U-Boot that is incompatible with NetBSD.

I bought another PinebookPro.  I have a microSD card with NetBSD 9.0 on it that I used as sort of a rescue boot for my other PinebookPro (which runs NetBSD 9.1).  I know that it works because I booted the old PBP with it, to make an image of the eMMC, so that I could make the new PBP a clone of the old one.  Booting this new PBP with the microSD card works for less than 20 seconds, and then the display turns off.  I have yet to open this PBP up to use the serial console, but I don't expect that will help, because NetBSD does start to boot.  I see that the PBP image of NetBSD has been withdrawn from armbsd.org, and I expect that is due to this problem.

I suppose it may be possible to install a different Linux on a microSD card in order to re-flash the eMMC with my original PBP NetBSD image.  But I wonder if I will run into some other trouble and effectively brick the PBP.  Is Manjaro booting via SPI ROM?  I'm not very ambitious about experimenting because I don't have my other PBP running NetBSD to fall back on.
