I have RISC OS up and running on the pbp. It is essentially bare metal, and I am having some issues with reliable clocking at higher speeds
I note many reporting that they are running A72 at 1.8GHz + ,and at the expected voltages in in u-boot. Would someone please report a bit of info for me from a working machine. I need the contents of the CRU module. This is at a physical address of 0xff760000, and I need the dump from (ideally) 0xff760000 to ff760500. If that isnt possibly I at least need to know the content of 0xff760020, 0xff760024, 0xff760108 and 0xff76010c

This should provide a sanity check here. I think I'm setting all I need, but suspect there is just something I have missed.
Any help here would be appreciated.

I have a weird issue with the linux console.  I am trying to setup a rockpro64 and in doing that I am using an old Dell monitor with a 1680x1050 resolution.

When the rockpro64 boots, the first thing that I see is the output from uboot. This is OK. Then linux is booted and for a short time I see a patterned screen. After this, there is the linux boot output.

The issue is that as soon as uboot gives control to the linux kernel, the display becomes terrible: all trembling and slightly distorted. The monitor reports that the output is at 1400x1050@55Hz, which is obviously not correct. However, /sys/class/graphics/fb0/modes correctly shows U:1680x1050p-0.

Obviously, I suspect that the poor display is due to using an output format that is not suited for the monitor. However:

• Why does uboot pick the right display mode and linux does not?
  
• What would be the proper way to instruct linux to use a more correct display mode for its console?

my PineBook Pro from spring 2020 runs Manjaro linux. Not sure which version, the command "ver" in a terminal doesn't tell me anything. Either way, I'm being prompted up update but when I do, I get this popup which tells me 

"
could not satisfy dependencies:
- removing wxgtk-common breaks dependency 'wxgtk-common' required by wxgtk2
"

Everything else seems to work fine so far, but obviously I should run the update at some point. Any advice?

I am well and truly inexperienced so much of the terminology on the posts means little or nothing to me. I have a lot to learn.

My initial problem with my Pinephone pro was with passwords. On first use all seemed O.K. Then when I shut it down and went in again it wouldn't recognise the pin I had put in and kept coming up with "Wrong Pin". And there is another password that it keeps asking for but again won't recognise what I put in. I tried the Manjaro "123456" but it's obviously not that either. That one it seems  is for changing things like time zone etc. I set the time zone when I first used the phone and the time has remained correct but every time I get into the phone it seems to want me to set the timezone again and keeps wanting the password, that is not what I thought I had put in. I had still been able to get into the phone for some time  without it recognising the pin or the password. And I set up and used  the phone and went on line but it still wants an ellusive password. Suddenly without any change on my part it started recognising the Pin it hadn't recognised before. Then things started to go wrong. Now it wants everything reset and recognises nothing, and continues to ask for that elusive password.

Anyway I was told I needed to flash from an SD card. Have tried to understand this from the WIKI but it is not clear.

The WIKI speaks of burning an image to an SD card. I went to the options and downloaded the files from the Manjaro arm site but there were several image files plus text files, and as the wiki only talks of burning a single image file what is what with the others and what are the text files all about? They are not something I can read. So can someone explain what I need to do here?.

Image files for Manjaro end in either .img.xz   or .img.xz.sha1
So what would I need?
I am tempted to try the ubuntu version instead because I use ubuntu on my computers, but there again there are three image files listed "base", "dpaw" and "phosh".  So does one need to choose or do they all have to be somehow installed?
 
I run Ubuntu on my computer and my only experience with burning image files has been burning new versions of Ubuntu using "Start up disk creator" and that only accepts Ubuntu images. The Wiki talks of using the program "Disks" which is on Ubuntu but I have never used that for burning image files. So I need some step by step instructions' 
I notice that "Disks" has two menus. In one menu there is an option "Attach disk image" and the other menu has "Create disk image", so I am not sure which one means burn disk image?

    There are other problems and more I could say but this is where I start. I don't have a lot of time so can't get in here often and find when I do come in things have changed and I can't find things that I saw last time I was in,  but anyway I need to start somewhere.

I have enjoyed both the feature set and the DIY flavor of my pinebook pro 14.
I have taken the machine apart several times,
one memorable time to replace the keyboard.
And it worked!

That was a year or two back.
Recently I spilled water on the keyboard.  My bad.
It won't boot.
Some suggested that, whereas the keyboard may be zotched,
the emmc 'virftual' disk may be recoverable,
for example by using an emmc usb 2.0 adapter to copy the emmc.

I think that I am hitting my DIY hardware limits!
Is there someone out there who can talk me through a process of fixing my machine,
or is there someone out there who might diagnose and fix it for a reasonable fee,
relative to what I paid for it:  $200.00 new.

If I run my finger around the window or click the buttons then it will segfault.


Anyone have any experience with rust/egui on PPP?

Hello all!

Just recently I bought a new emmc module for my pine64pro (64GB in size) with the intention of installing debian onto it. I can download the debian bootloader and install debian onto the emmc ok - but cannot boot from emmc (only microsd).

I think the reason for this is because somehow u-boot on my system has become "locked". It refuses to work with any usb keyboard - I do see u-boot messages and the message about pressing a key to stop uboot but it ignores all keyboard input and continues to load (so I'm unable to change anything - including trying to boot off emmc via changing a setting in u-boot).

I've tried 3 usb keyboards now and u-boot ignores them all. USB keyboards do work but only after the debian installer has finished loading.

Also if I remove the micro sd card with the debian installer on it I'm completely unable to boot., no messages or anything. Is u-boot on the emmc, sd or ?

Is there a way to clear out u-boot's settings or rewrite it?
