Making a new keyboard layout |

This is almost a showstopper - the choice of keyboard layouts is very sparse in current Mobian, and I can't quite find a way to make a new one.
I read almost everything that was written here on the subject, and followed the instructions on https://developer.puri.sm/projects/squee...orial.html
The trouble is that (megi's) distro of Mobian, and a few other descendants of Debian, includes about eight keyboards for major languages, and then there's the „other“ section, where I found both of my serbian keyboards (cyrillic and latinic) listed. However, when I select one of these, nothing happens, the layout remains american. So I found that the layouts reside in .yaml files on
~/.local/share/squeekboard/keyboards
...which doesn't exist. So I made one, and edited my version of sr.yaml, put it there (using syncthing, which works miraculously). Still doesn't catch. Searching through files, I see there's some trace of squeekboard, but no recognizable keyboard files anywhere.
I'm at my wits end - was there anything changed in the mechanism? Perhaps current Mobian doesn't even use squeekboard anymore? Where are the layout files?

Upgrading firmware via USB. |

Is it possible to upgrade eMMC image by using the USB C port?
There is another device with rk3566 (firefly) that supports it, but I'm not sure if this functionality is baked into the boot Rom, or does it require additional spi flash.
I tried plugging the board into a Linux pc, but the rk3566 upgrade tool didn't see any connected devices. Perhaps there is some button to press(or a pin to short to GND)?
This would be very useful for me to upgrade the emmc image repeatedly without having to disconnect and reconnect the module.

No audio on Pinebook Pro with Fedora? |

I'm currently running Fedora with tow-boot on my Pinebook Pro, and mostly it's working great. One issue I haven't resolved yet that is specific to this distro, is lack of sound. I get the following errors on boot:
Code: Aug 21 18:11:28 fedora alsactl[1161]: alsa-lib main.c:1541:(snd_use_case_mgr_open) error: failed to import hw:0 use case configuration -2
Aug 21 18:11:28 fedora alsactl[1161]: /usr/sbin/alsactl: set_control:1475: Cannot write control '2:0:0:ALC Capture Target Volume:0' : Invalid argument
I tried installing a kernel with patches from Manjaro via `kernel-pbp` from this Copr repo, but it requires a change to the boot procedure, possibly by uninstalling efi, grub and other packages, then installing the u-boot pacakge from that same repo. I'm tempted to try this, but would prefer not to make such radical changes to the boot process at this time. I did try installing their `pinebookpro-audio` package, but that wasn't enough to solve the issue.
Has anyone had any success with audio on Fedora?

Hi,
When I run megapixels in the terminal I get the error: ''usr/share/megapixels/config/pine64,pinephone-pro-ini not found. Could not find any config file." How can I solve this problem?

PureMaps and OSM Scout Server maps download |

Until several days ago I needed no API keys to use map auto-download for OSM tiles on Puremaps, it just loaded what I needed over wifi or 4g data.
Today after a full wipe and bookworm/mobian up-to-date install I get a HTTP 403 error and it wants a source for map files.
This leads me to install OSM scout server, which is good; I want offline maps on a daily driver device and I have not spent enough time working with nav on pinephone.
I get OSM scout server setup and I can download the world basic map files but I get no options when I click the subscribe button, nothing happens except a slight change in color on the subscribe button.
Maybe OSM is not serving map tiles today, or am I missing a step for both puremaps and osm scout server?
(edit)
It would be useful to me if anyone could verify a working install(version too) to see if they are getting their maps loading in OSM scout server or puremaps.

Hires Music Player for PPP |

Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum and wanted to ask the community a quick question about music players available on mobile Linux.
I understand the OS is still not in Beta and this request is of quite low priority, but I am keen to buy the Pine Phone Pro and the only thing holding me back is the lack of a decent music player for this phone.
I am currently using Poweramp on a Fairphone 3+ inside Ioda android, which I am very happy with, it ticks all the boxes form me including being able to play DSD files, and import and export M3U8 playlist files.
On my laptop I am running JRiver inside Qubes OS.
However I would much prefer a fully Linux phone, can anyone tell me if there are any decent music players available?
I have looked at all the usual's from the online lists, but don't know how many of them will run on the PPP, I also understand the Ubuntu Touch recently removed support for Cantata.

Modem Firmware Upgrade - Modem Busy - USB Issues |

(edit)***Following the thread below I got the problem solved, turns out sudo su is needed and sudo is not enough permissions to flash the modem***
https://github.com/the-modem-distro/pine...k/releases
It has been suggested that upgrading the firmware on the modem can help Bookworm users get GPS working.
There is no mention in the troubleshooting if I cant even pass the AT commands as it shows the port busy.
I am running a 3/32gb upgrade board PP.
Code: mobian@mobian:~$ echo -ne "AT+QFASTBOOT\r" > /dev/ttyUSB2
-bash: /dev/ttyUSB2: Device or resource busy
No AT commands means no fastboot possible, no fastboot means no upgrade.
Code: mobian@mobian:~$ fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.ubi && fastboot reboot
< waiting for any device >
I am concerned as I understand the GPS device should be on USB1 modem on USB2 but we see.(anyone can post their lsusb to see if there is a difference)
Code: mobian@mobian:~$ lsusb

6/22 run of PBPs - is reimaging eMMC with new OS possible still? |

Hi,
I have flashed multiple OS images available from the wiki (besides Manjaro) to the eMMC but consistently get stuck at the Manjaro logo/boot screen without getting to set up the prebuilt armbian, or DietPi, or Kali, but have been hesitant to overwrite the boot partition on the eMMC itself due to the news regarding the bootloader.
Is it possible to install anything but Manjaro on the new runs of the PBP now?
