  Woodpecker 3.3V not recognized
Posted by: z3bra - 11-13-2022, 07:05 AM - Forum: Rock64 Hardware and Accessories - Replies (1)

Hello,

I bought a fresh now rock64 along with the woodpecker USB to serial adapter. However, when I plug in the adapter to my computer in 3.3V, it is not recognized by the computer, and "dmesg" output remains silent, even though the led is lit. I tried multiple distros, kernel options and even Windows. The device just doesn't show up.

The adapter is correctly recognized in 5V mode, and the /dev/ttyUSB0 device gets created as expected. But apparently I should not use this mode to access my Rock64 console or I'll damage it.

What can I do ?

Thanks

  Manjaro Plasma busted
Posted by: Chief - 11-12-2022, 09:00 PM - Forum: Manjaro on PinePhone - Replies (2)

I have noted that Evolution crashed and also Libreoffice on Manjaro Plasma.
I was able to reinstall Evolution but Libreoffice remains busted, can't install.
I also noted numerous issues with updating in the terminal. After several tries
I was able to update. However Libreoffice remains busted and that is essential.

I think my PBP blew a fuse...
Posted by: pineymousepad - 11-12-2022, 07:23 PM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook Pro - No Replies

I plugged in usb c charger and heard my PBP making a chirping noise like a bird, I unplugged it and the USB C metal end felt really hot, tried using my simple pocket sized portable battery and my battery percentage LED turned off (that never happened before, bricked my portable battery), it seems to be sending current back towards whatever is supposed to be charging it. PBP was working until it ran out of battery (had no way of charging it, so PBP works, but now no way to add power)...
I tried the barrel charger, nothing (where before this incident it was working)...

I tried searching for threads related to my problem and found nothing. Will I have to open the PBP and change a fuse? USB-C port? Every month I use this thing it seems to pose me with a new engineering challenge.

  My PBP blew a fuse?

  Notification LED blinking spontaneously
Posted by: boloton - 11-12-2022, 01:47 PM - Forum: Arch Linux on PinePhone - Replies (6)

Hello, I am using the latest Arch with Phosh. In Phosh, there is a behaviour: when a notification arrives, the front LED starts to blink. However, sometimes I see the LED blinking for seemingly no reason, there are no notifications in the drop down menu. I tried to disable notifications for all apps except for Calls and Chats without effect. The main problem is that when it happens, the battery depletes much faster. For example, in the night it starts to blink. In the morning, battery is from 100% to 30%. Other night, everything works as expected and battery is at around 90%. I Don't know if the LED alone has that much power consumption, or if the phone cancels CRUST, or if something else happens. I can't say the exact frequency of it happening, maybe a few times a day. How can I go about it? I am wondering if there is a way to find out what is triggering the LED, perhaps some notification events history. Hope that this is written understandably, I tried to include the needed information. I will also provide more information if needed.

  Encrypted Root
Posted by: jaredoconnor - 11-12-2022, 11:09 AM - Forum: Linux on Pinebook Pro - Replies (1)

I'm hoping to run Armbian or Manjaro, with full disk encryption. However, I have failed to find much information about doing this. Could anyone give me some pointers? Also, do I need to do anything in particular, to ensure crypto extensions are used?

  U-boot Updates
Posted by: jaredoconnor - 11-12-2022, 11:05 AM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook Pro - Replies (5)

I would like to run the latest U-boot. However, I have some questions.

  1. Does the PBP require a modified U-boot, or is it safe to run the latest code from the official repo?
  2. All the tutorials that I have found either fail to mention where to get the files or they assume you're running Manjaro. Is there anywhere that I can get the files, without building them myself?
  3. I'm hoping to run U-boot on an SD card and the OS on the eMMC. That way, if I mess up my U-boot, it will be easier to recover than taking apart the laptop. Is this as simple as completely erasing the eMMC and installing U-boot on an SD card? Is there anything that I need to be aware of?

  PineTime beginner
Posted by: MV1791 - 11-12-2022, 09:03 AM - Forum: General Discussion on PineTime - Replies (2)

Hi all,
I've just received the PineTime.
I thought is was a 'stand alone' watch and only now I'm realizing that I need to set it using an APP.
I read some infos but I've some problems to understand wich is the right APP I need to install on my desktop (Ubuntu LTS 20.04)

And if I can install an APP on my Vollaphone22 (VollaOS or Ubuntu Touch).

Would anyone be so kind as to give me some suggestions?
Thanks in advance

Marco (Italy)
