I have been using my PinePhone for several years now, having come from Android, and I wanted to simply thank the team for their hard work.

Specifically:
A) Thank you for not gluing this phone together. I am clumsy and have had to replace the LCD several times now.
B) Thank you for the availability of spare parts and the prompt shipping of the ones I have ordered in the past.
C) Thank you for the affordable price point. I'm not rich.

This device finally gives me a decent PDA again, after the iRevolution killed that market. I've been living with this device for years now and I cannot imagine going back to a proprietary ecosystem.

I was reluctant to post this, as it may be considered spam, but I see threads saying to avoid the company and I just wanted to report that not all of us are unhappy.

Put simply, this device rocks. I'm beyond pleased with it.

Does it actually have neon support? I notice that it's not listed in /proc/cpuinfo. If it is supported does anyone have a good way to identify it in a configure script so I can actually build a project that supports neon?

I tried stock and when updating with pacman it bricked.. I tried reinstalling the PBP ISO from Manjaro and it worked for a while then bricked again while updating..

Then tried Armbian and the Public Key has an error when being verified during apt update, but better than Manjaro as in no bricking, can even shut the PBP lid and go into sleep mode without bricking unlike in stock. Armbian forums are not supportive, the developer in the thread has the "You should pay me to explain how to fix" attitude.

Any suggestions for a next distro in my quest to make my PBP usable?

On the shopsite there is some information on the SOQUARTZ but on the forum and normal website the information is not that clear.

As anyone knows the Raspberry PI's are hardly available and the SOQUARTZ looked like a decent alternative. Be it that I am not a Manjaro fan. (I have it on my pinebook pro as it came shipped with it.) So I was more looking ltowards Debian/Ubunto to run on it and see I could make a study cluster of a number of SOQUARTZ modules on a DeskPi Super6C

Are there more person willing to investigate the options and team up to make that process easier? (I did find some notes out there that seems to indicate it is possible but not exactly straight forward.

Let me know which forum group here matches that the best?

where would i find instructions on how to create a .img.xz  for a OS file to use with tow boot?

will tow boot use any img file?   i downloaded a .img file that wasn't on the pinephone pro wiki,  it was on the pinphone and it did not work when trying to run it from the sd card.  

im a newb and maybe asking the incorrect questions...., so thanks for explaining what i may not be understanding.

Hello, I have a Pinecil V2 in the mail and am thinking about ordering a new power bank that can power it to its full potential. The product page lists the maximum draw at 20v 3A, but the official wiki page lists 28V as the maximum input voltage and 88w being the corresponding wattage for USB, with EPR being required to get over 60w. I was just wondering which one of these I should trust, and if EPR is supported now or was planned to be included in a future firmware update? And it it is or will be supported, why isn't that power supported over the barrel plug? Basically I wanna know what specs I need on my power supply to get the full power output, and preferably over USB, but I would like to know if I can pump 28v to the barrel jack too. (My original provided crappy “charger” died on me after less than a month...)

what is everyone's preference between these two OS's?

currently it seems plasma is just too slow for the phone and it takes forever to do anything.   i don't see plasma as useable.  Phosh appears to be much faster/better for my needs.

so that said,  can anyone explain some differences between manjaro and arch?  why you'd chose one over the other?   what's the difference between manjaro with phosh and arch with phosh?

I try to buy some Pinecil-Stuff from the webshop at https://pine64.com/. I want to pay via Credit Card.

But I cannot succeed:

* Whenever I want to use my VISA card (and also my other VISA card) (real credit card, not a debit card, issued by the German bank "DKB"), it says "The card was declined.". I can try again and again.
* Whenever I want to use my MasterCard (real credit card, not a debit card, issued by the German bank "Commerzbank"), it says "bad gateway" and on a second attempt "Sorry, your session has expired. Return to shop", then the shopping cart is empty.

Both cards have some SMS TAN set up, so if my bank needs additional authentication, I should be forwarded via the 3DSecure intermediate to my banks site to enter the security information. But nothing like this happens either.

So, what is wrong? When can I order and pay with credit card? (and not PayPal)?

Browser: Firefox and chromium.

Or, can you make the conversion from USD to EUR? PayPal gets really expensive in doing currency conversions.

EDIT, a bit later: I now got two confirmation emails of two orders with two differing order numbers. So not sure if the order made it through and I just got an error message? And I just wanted to place one order, because of the error message I tried again, so maybe there was an error message despite sucessful payment? I will see soon ... (I already did reply back to the order confirmation email about that issue.)

EDIT2: Now the customer service of Pine64.com did confirm and did cancel one of the doubled orderes. And they charge me a 5% cancellation fee, although all the behaviour of their website did make me think that there was an error with payment, which was the only reason that I tried again.
