I received the development board, so I can share some experience thus far, if you have any questions, want me to run some tests let me know.
First of all the board is pretty big - if you are used to raspberry pi, think twice the size (check the photo for the size comparison). Personally I don't mind, but you may say whoa this is big https://www.anony.ws/image/Jt6t

it seems to lag behind, on the other hand, Pine has no heatsink and I noticed very significant throttling when temperatures reached 120F.
If you want better performance heatsink is a must.

The standard range of apps work just fine, I had few crashes with app store installing antutu 3d, I guess there are some quirks of android that need to be worked out.
Netflix running at 1080p gets the temperature of the core (measured with the outside thermometer) to 110F.
KillAWatt EZ (the wall power meter) shows 4.8-5.2W while running Netflix.
Audio goes through HDMI unless you plug headphones.
Board shows great potential for whatever you will want to use it, game console / tv box, ARMv8 development machine. It needs some loving, but hey for 19/29$ you can't go wrong.
I had a question regarding memory capacity on the A64+ units. Would it be possible to offer a 4GB DDR3 option for just a couple dollars more over the 2GB option? Our news team recently wrote a story about the Pine A64 and some of our readers have suggested that a 4GB A64+ option would make the device much more usable as a PC. This would also allow the device to make full use of the 64-bit memory address space.
Please let us know what you guys think. Looking forward to your response.
I'm trying to figure out if Pine can do what I am hoping it can, and if so, HOW
I have a large home with concrete and lath and plaster walls. Pretty much the bane for wireless signals. I've tried the Wireless Repeaters that connect via wifi, and then rebroadcast, but they are NOT GOOD for my application. I am unclear on what the technical term is for it (Repeater, Extender, Access Point, etc) but what I need is something to connect via wired connection, and then broadcast a wireless signal (essentially a wireless router). I have a good wireless router now, that reaches most of the house, but I need something for 3 smaller areas. I was about to buy some cheap wireless routers and just set the SID and pw the same as my existing one.
It seems that even the cheaper board (with the Wifi) would be able to do this from a technical stand point, but I don't know what kind of software I'd need to accomplish.

and so we are able to request features help examples for this board this board has a lot of potential.
but not everybody is able to manage and complete its projects or ideas for its owm
so we need som help
just the fact that allwinner its a new SOC ( not a common use one )
we need help to understand and work with our boards
and to be able to work with our board flawlessly we need some examples
in other words
we need a part of the forum that is for learning ,
a noob section and an advanced section with examples and ideas of how to make some thinks with the board
with exampes How-To code and thinks like that
pretty much like the arduino playground i know that this is serious code and i like that, to be able to code all of this we need examples and people that make this content.
and not only that, we need also that people in the forum support ideas
thats why the forum exist anyway.
so if we want a big and nice community we need to work together. so this project can become the project we want it to be
please post what kind of content you think is nedded in this forum. so the creators can work on that

I was considering buying a 5 inch lcd from eBay to make a small portable pc from my Pine and this one also has a touch control panel , which uses an XPT2046 controller ,connected through a header on the back compatible with Raspberry Pi.
Reading that chip's datasheet it looks like it's some kind of SPI connection that also uses an interrupt when it's touched at all.
I have noticed some other displays on eBay displays having a note in their description to have select a different HDMI mode because it might only show a part of the screen, will this be changeable within the Pine64 as well?
I was wondering how compatible it would be or pointers in the right direction to the info I should be reading.
My current TV setup is to have a raspberry pi2 running kodi, connected to a normal computer monitor. This is achieved by using a HDMI to VGA adapter similar to this: http://goo.gl/8VjJ6M
The adapter is not powered in any way. This was an issue with the original pi, as it would cause the capacitor handling the HDMI port to overload & stop working. But the pi2 can handle it with no problems.
I am interested in replacing my TV setup with pine64 running android, as it can handle netflix. But I need to make sure my adapter won't burn out a capacitor on the pine64 or cause other problems. Will this be an issue? The pi has lots of settings for outputting to weird stuff via the HDMI port. Will the pine64 be capable of this?
i Think i would be really helpfull if we can get sample codes to use the I/O pins on android and linux as well
so we can manage to build whatever we want from the botom up and using the capabilities of the board it self
such as
i2c Serial
Spi
UART
GPIO
and if is capable of. PWM as well
I looked over the specifications for the LCD Panel and it does not accurately state the viewing angle.
Example good viewing angle: 178° (H) / 178° (V) - This is normally seen on IPS Screens.
Example poor viewing angle: 140° (H) / 120° (V) - This is highly common on TFT/TN based Panels.
Hi, I already have an enclosure that fits a computer board like the pine A64 pretty well. It's called a pi-top and it houses a raspberry pi 2B. It comes with a trackpad, keyboard, display and long lasting lithium ion battery (2-3 days of use) with power management unit. Since the Pi 2B and Pine A64 are so similar, could the Pine be used to upgrade the pi-top? Would make a cool upgrade if possible.
Looking for any great suggestions or ideas.
