Does the ROCK64 support CEC over HDMI?
Posted by: mpb - 07-05-2017, 02:00 PM - Forum: Linux on Rock64 - Replies (2)

Hello,

Does the ROCK64 support CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) over HDMI?  CEC allows the SBC to turn a connected HDTV on (and off) over HDMI, change the HDTV's input, and possibly control other functions.

I believe the Raspberry Pi has CEC support.  While I have never used CEC on a Raspberry Pi, I do have some project ideas in mind.

More info here:

Thanks!

  Issues booting remixOS image
Posted by: remi - 07-05-2017, 11:57 AM - Forum: Android on Pinebook - Replies (2)

Hi,
I have sucessfully booted android 7.1 from an external sdcard (after decrompressing the 16gb sdcard boot image using etcher), just by inserting the SDcard in the reader port and powering up the laptop, without even removing the internal eMMC which contains ubuntu MATE that came from the factory.

However I cannot get the remixOS image, decompressed to the same SD card using etcher, to boot. Upon powering up the laptop, the power led just blinks forever and nothing happens. I have tried to activate the special boot mode by pressing the power button repeatedly right after powerup with no success.

Is there anything I am missing ?

Regards

Music Problems using Spotify Web version because DRM (Firefox & Chromium)
Posted by: Ekkaia - 07-05-2017, 11:07 AM - Forum: Linux on Pinebook - Replies (6)

Hello.

I'm trying to use Spotify Web version, http://play.spotify.com.
I tried on Chromium and Firefox, but both cases I'd been redirected to a Spotify message saying (for me in spanish, try to write on english): "The play of DRM content is not enabled" and a link to a how-to for both navigators:
https://support.spotify.com/es/using_spo...eb-player/

I have the configuration in Chromium that says the article, but still getting the same message.
In Firefox there are no option like said in the article.

Anyone knows how to use Spotify Web? (cause no ARM .deb version from the application)

Thanks.

Smile Ubuntu Release Upgrade (16.04 => 16.10 => 17.04) working
Posted by: stohn - 07-05-2017, 09:03 AM - Forum: Linux on Pinebook - Replies (19)

I just played around with the ubuntu release upgrade which does not want to start due to insufficient space in "/boot" reported (asking for 40MB more).

Out of curiosity I booted from SD card and increased the boot partition of the integrated eMMC with "gparted" (shrink ext4 partition by 50 MB and move to right, expand boot partition by 50 MB).

Later I was able to do a release upgrade of ubuntu using the standard commands.

It took quite a while. But 2 hours and one reboot later I had Ubuntu 16.10 running on my pinebook.
The kernel itself was NOT updated (/boot stayed 100% same).

No problems so far with Ubuntu 16.10 and the old 3.10 kernel. All seems to work as expected.

So increasing the /boot partition by 40 MB seems to do the trick (even that it is not used).

Will try 17.04 upgrade next.

Just did another upgrade to 17.04. It took much longer to upgrade but it is also running ok.

I want to build a smartphone based on a pine64 with android and a c4labs style case,
but i got some questions

is there a smaller lcd screen and touch pannel available for the pine64, about the same size as the pine board ?
is there a way to make it read a sim card and get a signal for calls and data ?
is it possible to put the phone and messaging apps in the pine android image ?

  MicroSD Speed? (UHS?)
Posted by: PoV - 07-04-2017, 05:51 PM - Forum: General Discussion on ROCK64 - Replies (10)

Does the Rock64 support UHS speeds for the MicroSD card?

Usually the answer is no (requires switching to a lower voltage AFAIK). USB 3.0 is a welcome addition, but given how cheap high speed MicroSD cards are, it would be nice to finally have an SBC that can take advantage of them. To have to use a USB 3.0 MicroSD adapter though... that would be uncool.

And yes, I understand eMMC is faster. That just tells me the BUS can handle it.

Thanks.

Why wasn't Mirco-USB chosen for power supply?

Will there be hardware acceleration possible? Pine64 still does not have proper support...
