  Pine64 Drawing - binary & source documents
Posted by: ecolezen - 06-25-2017, 05:26 PM - Forum: Pine A64 Projects, Ideas and Tutorials - Replies (1)

Just want to share a Pine64 Drawing binary (.png, .svg) and source document (.odg OpenOffice/LibreOffice)...
The source document is there and it is easy to add/remove features... (just draw over a photo, like "carbon copy" style, then export in the format you want)...

Also, a general SBC (single board computer) drawing that can represent any SBC board:

Information Rock64 IRC channel
Posted by: Luke - 06-25-2017, 07:30 AM - Forum: General Discussion on ROCK64 - Replies (4)

A heads up for those who wish to follow software development for the upcoming Rock64 board from Pine Inc. - there is now a dedicated channel for the board on our IRC server. After joining in the main channel type the following in dialogue box and hit enter:

Quote:/join #rock64

This will open another window with rock64 chat.
The Rock64 channel was created with the intention to compartmentalize development for the two SOCs (A64 and rk3328) soon-to-be offered by Pine Inc. That said, I expect that there will be a degree of spill-over talk as its one community after all; we'll see how it pans out Wink
If you wish to read more about our IRC and/or want to learn how to join using a dedicated client please read this thread

Edit: an easier way is to just substitute #Pine64 for #Rock64 under channels in webchat

If you got any suggestions or ideas do let me know. If anything new will come up I will make sure to update this post.

  Start from USB

  Bluetooth
Posted by: AndyK - 06-24-2017, 05:21 AM - Forum: Linux on Pinebook - Replies (1)

So I've been playing with the sound on my Pinebook 14" and found the tip to use alsamixer solved the problem of sound being so quiet as inaudible, but now I can hear it, I am thinking Bluetooth Speakers may be the way to go.

So that got me exploring Bluetooth on my PB14  and it hasn't been very successful: So far all attempts to pair anything just seem to fail - not with an error - nothing seems to happen.

i've tried a UE Megaboom and a Philips SBT75 speaker and also tried pairing with my iPhone to use it as a network device. Nothing seems to pair and connect successfully.

This is on Ubuntu 0.5.5-65

Is there any wisdom out there on how you get Bluetooth working? It seems to work under Android 7.1 so I am sure its not hardware.

Left vs Right USB socket on Pinebook 14"
Posted by: AndyK - 06-24-2017, 05:11 AM - Forum: Pinebook Hardware and Accessories - Replies (3)

Just wanted to comment that I noticed that a USB HDD plugged into the LEFT USB port won't power up properly (looks like it can't get enough current), but plugged into the RIGHT USB socket it behaves normally.

Is this intentional?

It's not a problem as you can use the right hand socket but it is an inconvenience if you are not aware of it.

  Cover easily scratched?
Posted by: Devilotx - 06-23-2017, 06:58 AM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook - Replies (4)

Sorry, no pics at the moment, but I decided to take my pinebook to work so I could spend a little more time getting to know it, and when I pulled it from my bag, I found a heavy rub/damaged area on the surface of the lid, while the pinebook was in a backpack, with only a few other items inside, I was surprised the device was scarred up that easily?

The damage appears to have been caused by the power adapter jostling around while I walked. Also noted some red color rubbed off the empty water bottle I keep in my bag as well, and that wiped off easily enough with a touch of 409 and a paper towel, but I'm a bit concerned about the durability of this device.

Android 6.0.1 (LCD Panel version) reboot problems
Posted by: Maxim0n - 06-23-2017, 06:29 AM - Forum: Android on Pine A64(+) - Replies (3)

Hi,

I have been using Pine A64 2GB version for a year and absolutely love it.
I updated the os from Android 5 to the latest Android 6.0.1 (Android 6.0.1 (LCD Panel Video Output) [20170209]) and i noticed that everything works prefectly as long as you don't  shut the system down.
I have reimaged the memory card and after that everything works just fine until i reboot the system. I do it by holding the power button that is soldered down for ~3 seconds and selecting the shutdown or reboot option. Ether of theese gives the same result, a black screen after initial power on cyckle. Apparantly it's not getting any boot directions from the memory card.
I ran the verify option from the ethcer program and it was successfull and i can see the partitions on the memory card are the same before i initially start the Pine from the memory card and after i shut it down and it does not boot anymore.

I have tried to install this with the Etcher program as well as the new Pine Insaller and i have only used the images provided from wiki.pine64.org or the Pine Installer options.

This did not happen with the Android 5 LCD version and i plan on dowgrading to it to test the boot procedures.
I have changed the memory card to see if the old card had become corrupted. Didn't help.
I'll test this with the non LCD version allso to see if it does the same or not.

Has anyone else noticed this kind of behaviour?

  DVB-T dongle
Posted by: Erik - 06-22-2017, 06:26 AM - Forum: Pinebook Hardware and Accessories - Replies (6)

LS,

I just inserted a USB DVB-T dongle (in holland DVB-T is wide spread in use) it9135 in the pinebook. after downloading the firmware and copying the file to /lib/firmware the dongle was recognised in both lsusb and in dmesg.

However if I start vlc to watch TV (on 722MHz with 8MHz bandwidth in my region) it states there is no DVB device present. The same error occures when I start w_scan to see what is beeing broadcasted. The dongle/antenne works on other equipment using linux so in theory....
