One starting place would be to check the right USB port. Does any device in that right USB port work?
If nothing works in that right USB port, then perhaps it's a loose or poorly connected small board cable. The right ports are connected to the mainboard by a cable. So the flat cable could have a loose connection on either end.
Here is a picture of the small board, with the cable shown at the top of the picture.
