Noob connecting to internet

I am just starting with my rockpro64 and I have an lxde ubuntu on an emmc 64G
My unit is the 4gB version. I bought the wif bt mimo module but have had no success setting it up on my home network Please offer some direction. The wlan is not showing up in ip a, after initial boot.
