PPP shuts off when reaching battery level >50% <70%

Hi there,

has someone else experienced such weird behaviour?

I couldn't use my PinePhone Pro for months now because the reported battery level immediately crashes to 0% at some point between 50% and 70%, leading to a forced shutdown. Support says it has to be a software problem but I actually doubt that. The battery itself is working flawlessly in another phone and the issue persists even if I boot up the factory test build.

Any help leading to fix this issue (besides buying a new mainboard) is appreciated.

Thanks Smile

You could replace the battery with a compatible one for relatively cheap if that's the cause (see https://wiki.pine64.org/wiki/PinePhone#Battery), especially if the issue persists across multiple distributions. If it turns out to be not caused by the battery you could still return it to the seller.

Thanks, but the battery isn't damaged. It's working fine in my non-pro PinePhone. With the non-pro PinePhone battery in the PinePhone Pro on the other hand, the issue still remains.

Sorry, I missed the sentence about testing it in a regular PinePhone. It's the first time I heard about such an issue and it's quite tricky. We discussed it a bit in the community chat in the PinePhone channel, there might be some further information required. Would recommend you to join the chat channel: https://wiki.pine64.org/wiki/Main_Page#C...nd_Support (discussion starting at https://discord.com/channels/46323792798...0768905369).

Thank you, I'll try to join the discord discussion tomorrow – it's a bit late here now and I need to catch some sleep Wink

Edit: I've added a screenshot of my support ticket (hopefully without any personal data):

I gave up and bought a new PPP mainboard. It looks like it's been shipped without SPI flash, so I'm facing the next couple of issues – yay xD A couple of reboots later, /dev/mtdblock0 showed up without errors.
