A lot of the issues you were seeing are because you were using an ancient version of Manjaro Plasma Mobile that was never updated.
As for the update failing: Discover does not work properly on Manjaro, use pamac-gtk with pamac-mobile-integration if you want a GUI (though that will work properly on Plasma Mobile only if you have at least the 2022-02-09 stable update with KWin 5.25.5, it works fine now though) or just use the pacman or pamac CLI.
