No, he removed it. It charged for one night and now it won't acknowledge that it is being charged.

The phone can't be charged while it is turned off. The reason why it is not booting is a bug causing U-Boot to bootloop with a drained battery. Simply charge it in Maskrom mode as explained in the blue info box: https://wiki.pine64.org/wiki/PinePhone_P...structions
