soundcard pinephone mobian
#1
hi, I'm new here and more and more happy with my pinephone, just awaitng the keyboard next days.
I'm using the phone as my daily driver and even the camera is somehow charming.......having its own character.....
I' m a DJ( ....exp. rock, noiserock......) and have the pinephone used for DJing, which is running quite o.k., due to Lollypop and the docking- board.
Now I'm wondering if it is possible to connect an external soundcard to the pinephone?
Which one you would recommend.......a real good one?
Thank you!

It's confirmed working with the RME Babyface.

It should work with pretty much any audio interface that works with linux, and since you're using the powered dock the power requirements shouldn't be a problem. That covers most USB DACs. If you're after interfaces with inputs or multiple channels you'll need to do a bit more compatibility research. What are your requirements?

thank you, the link is interesting, but a babyface is real expensive.................my requirements are always the same: a great sound quality! And for an easyier DJing interfaces with inputs/ multiple channels would be great..............any recommendations?

You did ask for a real good one, and didn't specify price ;-) I don't know enough about DJing to know what features you need, what might be useful but isn't really necessary, and what's no use at all. Mic inputs? Balanced or single ended inputs and outputs? Physical knobs rather than virtual controls? Headphone outputs?

https://linuxmusicians.com/ should give you an idea about whether most interfaces work, or if people have compatibility problems. https://audiosciencereview.com has measurements for some of them so you can see how good the inputs and outputs are - it doesn't say much else about features or linux compatibility unless someone comments on them. The MOTU M2 and M4 apparently work well with kernel 5.11 or later. Gen1 and Gen2 Focusrite Scarletts should work well, and low channel count Gen3 might be ok. At the really cheap end I'd expect the Fun Generation UA-202 to work since the Behringer UCA202 does, and they use the same chipset.
