no HDMI (DP) Output over Dock
#1
Hello,
I can't connect any extern HDMI output over the Dock:
The DP state is always between:

Code:
anx7688 1-0028: DP state changed to 0x00

anx7688 1-0028: DP state changed to 0x02

anx7688 1-0028: DP state changed to 0x03

Code:
$ wlr-randr
DSI-1 "<Unknown> <Unknown>  (DSI-1)"
 Physical size: 68x136 mm
 Enabled: no
 Modes:
   720x1440 px, 60.006001 Hz (preferred)

is there anything possible to get HDMI/DP working / fix this Issue (I tried it with different Displays) in mobian (bullseye)?

Thank you!

I have this same issue, would love for mobian to work with the dock properly.

It would be nice, and even to know which part has to be replaced to get it working if there is no software solution.

i also reported it here but i'm not shure if it is the right place:

In another thread they were discussing this issue, try plugging it in with the back cover removed.

It seems the plug is just a little short on a few of these docks, removing the rear cover allows it to go in a little deeper.

I already  tried plugging it in with the back cover removed (and todiffernt docks) it is the same.
The status is not going higher than
Code:
anx7688 1-0028: DP state changed to 0x03
I also tried with low battery (<37%) an with 2 Kernels (5.10 and 5.13).

I'm hoping it's a software issue because it wouldn't be very smart to market and sell a convergence package specifically for docking and displaying on a monitor if that package's hardware doesn't actually work for that purpose. It's like selling a car for driving without an engine. Just pointless.

there seems to be a working fix for kernel version 5.15
https://xnux.eu/log/#050

hopefully it will be merged in mobian....

By the way, if you switch off the PinePhone while HDMI is plugged in, do you get Mobian logo on the screen? (Also maybe after trying the force-on and override-EDID workaround). I do, which hopefully means that the hardware itself can output to HDMI. (At the same time 5.15 kernel from megous does not work properly with HDMI for me under postmarketOS — tried it there because the kernel packaging is a bit simpler)

I get now output with Fedora kernel which uses the 5.1.15 Kernel, so I hope it is just a matter of time when the fix gets into mobian
