Announcing the Mobian project
#71
PureOS on pinephone got auto screen rotation using the sensors, can this be implemented on mobian since pureos its basically a fork of debian?
#72
We do have manual screen rotation already, however, it is a bit more complex than just rotating the screen.

The auto/resizing and arrangement still needs some 'work' when you do go to the landscape mode.

I think this is a ' w.i.p. ' (work in process)

They have done so much - so quickly "IT IS AMAZING" how much this small group of Developers have done already !

* They likely do appreciate suggestions from us end users, but, their priorities are ultimately theirs to set *

I would also prefer landscape mode myself, but I do appreciate how well my Brave Heart does run with this operating system at this early stage of development

AFAIK they use a WIP upstream branch for that, which we'd rather avoid (mostly because it's a lot of work as we already maintain custom versions of several packages). The wait shouldn't be too long however, as I believe this feature will soon be merged, and a new phosh release might follow in the next few weeks.

Indeed, but our priorities also depend on the users' expectations and needs.
In the end it's all just a matter of time, as we can't dedicate as much as we'd like to mobian Wink

I am on Mobian since 15-june (nightly). Every update gets smoother and smoother. I want to thank all the hard workers, for this result in a short period!

Absolutely loving Mobian as I'd normally favour an Arch based distro but cannot believe even after installing other services the phone got 10 hours in standby over night from 100% and still had 54 % left. UB ports and Manjaro or KDE neon would be dead come the morning.

Apps if there was a wish list that could be made to fit correctly on the Pinephones display would be print settings and having cups installed by default. I've got them installed and running but the print settings window is always off screen even when the display is rotated. So it is guess work using the tab key to find the ok button. But that saying I know have the option to print from my phone now. Have to say this is fast becoming my daily driver, thank you.

Maybe you could try to configure cups using the old way
The web ui on localhost

But that'd be too easy and i managed to get setup using print settings even though I couldn't see all the options and buttons.  Wink
might look into how to get apps like this to scale correctly on Mobian too.

It seems like your prayers have been heard.
this was recently merged into phoc.
Which (from what I understand) allows scaling of windows/views on a per application basis.
Only a matter of time until it finds its way to the mobian repos!
See this commit (README.md) how it can be used.

Is there going to be a page with periodic release notes similar to what PMOS does at the bottom of their mirror? Im updating and upgrading 4-5 times a day just to make sure i'm on the latest but say, a thread here with the latest changes or a dedicated update page would be hugely helpful to know what to test Smile
