ROCK64 RTC
#1
Does the Rock 64 have a working Real Time Clock and if so is there a power connector for backup battery like the Pine64 Boards?

Thanks,

Jim

Gee... you think people might actually use the 'search' option... what a quaint and novel idea! Big Grin Angel

Thanks for pointing the OP to the answer though Wink

Smile I can't tell what I think about many people behaviour on internet forums, not very appropriate here.
The best: no solution provided but "[solved]" and "thank you it works now", super very useful ! Especially when you get there years after.

And a recent experience on retroarch forums: "we can provide you help bla bla bla" twice... but nothing about this so called help the guy can provide... :/

and you're welcome.

Right now the only reason I have not purchased the Rock 64 is because it doesn't have an RTC with a battery back up option.  I am still using the Pine 64 for my current automation stuff.

My current crop of RPi's all utilize the PiFace RTC shim for time today and I do not want to install a new RTC with battery in a Rock64 at this time.

It has been promised now since last year and the answer has been that the hardware update will be coming on the next build and it hasn't yet since my first post last year (2017) about this concern.

Question:
Will the RTC be available in the December 12, 2017 Rock64 release?

Answer:
RTC is working, just lacking battery backup. The battery backup circuit not available on December production, we plan to merge in on January production but not sure will happen. This due to there is super long lead time on PCB manufacturing.

Question:
Wondering if the RTC / battery stuff is available on current Rock54 hardware?

If not can I have instructions for soldering in battery posts and utilize the Pine64 battery holder?
Answer:
Attached is the RTC mod circuit for ROCK64. However, ROCK64 don't support battery charging and no such circuit available.

Question:
Thank you tlimm.

So the hardware RTC with battery changes have been abandoned eh?
Basically then all I need to do is solder on a battery to the Rock64 board.
I have done similar here with my tabletop touchscreens.
Answer:
The ROCK64 board with RTC battery connector is not abandon. Check out the FOSDEM PINE64 table stand photo and you may able to spot this board.

This is just a minor change and we will revise board revision during production run sometimes on Q2 2018 timeframe.

Question:
Curious if the new Rock64 hardware release has the built in RTC battery connections?
Answer:
This release already on the plan and originally plan release to production on this month. However, due to focus on ROCKPro64 activity, and has push to June/July.

========================

I quit using the Internet for my time here years ago.  Initially in the early 2000's went to using an NTP server with a GPS / PPS connection.

Current PFSense firewall is using a GPS/PPS serial connection for my time.

I tinker here with weather stations, sensors, earthquake sensors and automation.

Lately downloading NOAA weather maps from NOAA satellites and am picky about the time.

Posting another couple of requests today.

1 - when will the updated Rock64 with RTC and Battery will be available?
2 - will the Rock64Pro ever have a battery RTC option? (it would be a great little firewall)

Great stuff!
Thanks for the update.

Great news tllim!

Been promoting the Rock64 as an automation server on steroids with an RTC / battery.

Just updated my Pine64 to Ubuntu 18.04 64 bit and it is running great ....24/7 now for years.
