Pine64 is slow... is it because I have Remix OS 8gb on 64g SD?

Hi guys, 

So finally after a order two chargers off of Amazon and rewriting my SD card about ten times I have successfully booted Remix OS. My concern is that it is very slow and crashes a fair amount. They only way I've managed to boot it is by download and using the Remix V2.0 designed for 8bg on a 64g SD card. I was wondering if this will be contributing to the slow performance?

No, the size of the image written to the card shouldn't have an effect on speed of use, far as I understand it.

No, the size of the image written to the card shouldn't have an effect on speed of use, far as I understand it.

Size of the card shouldn't matter - only thing that would happen there is that if you haven't resized the filesystem you can only access 8GB of your 64GB card, making it an expensive 8GB card. 

More important is the class of the card - should be a class 10 if you want decent performance, as you want the higher read and write speeds.

That's not really true. Those speeds are for sequential access, the Pine64 will top out at 23MB/s.

You want fast 4kb random access. Some class 10 cards will do considerable less than others and it's very noticeable.

Quite so. I have several class 6 cards with much better random i/o speeds than any class 10's I've got.

+! for it's all about the card's I/O specs not "class".   After hours and hours of failed boots with the card provided by Pine, I shelled out a whopping $6 on Amazon for a 16gb Samsung Evo and been rock solid ever since.
Only "issue" so far is I wanted to try a random free game from the Play store (MMX Hill Climb) and yet it wont play...dbl click on the icon does nothing...but Kodi Jarvis on the other hand, rocks!

Thanks for all the help... SD card is class 10, I am just struggling to actually use the Pine because it is so slow and crashes. I've not successfully been able to load a website or enter the app store, it just crashes. At a loss.

What people are saying is that class is not as important as random I/O speeds. Other users have reported having a very slow experience using one card, before switching to another and having things run much faster and smoother. Which microSD card you use makes a big difference.

What software did you use to burn the OS image? Have you tried a different microSD?
