PINE64 promised that it would continue manufacturing the PinePhone based on the A64 for 5 years, so it should be possible to buy the current phone until 2025. PINE64's goal is to create a common A64 platform with many form factors (SBC, phone, tablet and laptop) that encourages tinkers to make mods that work on many types of devices and gives community projects (like Plasma Mobile) a stable target for their dev work.
Pine64 is also planning on making a second common platform based on the RK3566, starting with an SBC. Once the software support gets good enough, PINE64 will produce the PinePhone 2 and PineTab 2 based on the RK3566, but that doesn't mean it will stop selling the current PinePhone, since its goal is to support community projects and tinkers.
