So I've just had the "pleasure" with the pine support myself. I've ordered a pinephone in october last year, the 1.2b Manjaro version.
GPS Never worked - but considering all the modem issues, I assumed it to be a software issue.
A couple months ago I figured out that my magnetometer isn't working either - only returning junk values from the sensor - Plotted them on a 3d graph to make sure.
USB-C Port was loose af, thought this might be "normal" - it isnt.
Today after many months of software updates, trial and error and even developing my own library, I send a support ticket explaining in detail the problems I have
added the graph and a screenshot showing the GPS failing to get signals from the sat and within 30min I get the following response:
I'm furious about the paragraph. As if they didn't even bothered to read my ticket.
It cost me close to 300$ to get this phone with tax and shipping and they sent me broken hardware and then they give me a copy/paste barely english response telling me to check if its a f... software issue when I put it is NOT a software issue in the first sentence. As if they're mocking me.
Not even an offer to send me a replacement PCB at a slight discount or anything at all.
That really leaves an awful aftertaste, i went from loving pine to just seeing it as another company that doesn't give a sh*t
If they had just told me "no sorry its out of warranty" I'd not have made this post.
EDIT: A day later the usb-c dock broke - no more display output
Im fucking pissed.

Quote:As it turns out, my isses are not related to software.
My Magnetometer (lis3mdl) only returns data on two axies and not the full ranges either, if i run a compass app that other people run successfully on their phones, i only get values between 320 and 356 degrees. I've plotted the raw data obtained by rotating the phone on all axis on a 3D graph and it looks absolutely messed up.
I have never gotten a GPS fix either, initially thinking it was a software problem (as the modem had its fair share of issues when I got it) but as it turns out the antenna most likely doesn't work at all. Even with assistance data loaded, I get a 0.0 "signal-to-noise-ratio", never talks to any satelites, not even after hours of walkinig outside with clear view. The Module itself seems to be working though, as it returns the appropriate NMEA sentences, just without any actual satelite values.
Additionally the usb-c port was very lose from the day I've received it, thought this was 'normal' but on discord/matrix I've been told otherwise too. This is the least of my concerns though.

I guess I really got a bad one from the factory...
I'm aware that my order is >6 months old at this point, but naive me thought the issue was me or the software. Can you help?

Quote:Unfortunately, as per your order###### warranty is expired.
If you wish to check out whether hardware or software issue, please to inform you are required to post your question at PINE64 forum, http://forum.pine64.org and there is a forum user that has the same experience and provides an answer to you. Also, you may chat with Pine64 IRC for developers' advice. Here is the link: https://www.pine64.org/web-irc/.
Thank you.
