I have one other dock that I tried (also didn't work) as well as I gave my Samsung Galaxy dock a try (didn't work either). All of these docks work if I plug in my Galaxy S9+ though.

I've also tried any distro in any version and I think I know Linux not too bad
BTW: My version is also the "KDE community edition".
So I recommend to invest some bucks into the Anker docking-bar and your problems should be solved.
I'm curious if it will work for you the same way as for me
