My PinePhone would not detect either a USB hard disk drive or SD card USB adapter when plugged into my dock so I was going through the suggestions in this thread. Although I've always hot plugged the dock into the PinePhone first and then connected the USB device afterwards (keyboard and mouse) and they were detected and immediately usable, this did not work with USB drives.
I found that the USB hard disk and USB SD card adapter both worked perfectly if I reboot the PinePhone after connecting the powered dock to it. After the reboot, I plug-in the USB drive. I'm running Mobian (https://images.mobian-project.org/pineph...113.img.gz) and I last did a apt get dist-upgrade about a week ago.
I post here just in case someone stumbles upon this thread and finds the above information helpful.
