I wanted to revitalise this now that there is more evidence or testing data to base this analysis on. Generally the main problem i have with phosh is how slow the ui is to respond. We now have nearly all OSes running a version with PHOSH and several of them running others. Having now played with most i can safely say something about PHOSH indeed makes things work much slower (PHOSHY) UT does not have this since it doesnt have phosh, but a great head to head is Manjaro LOMIRI vs Manjaro PHOSH. Lomiri is snappy and instant, everything loads under 1s. Phosh is laggy, keyups dont always register, and apps can take anywhere from 15-60s to open. Similar results looking at PHOSH vs Plasma. Maybe time to start looking at PHOSH architecture for inefficiencies? I don't hate it's look, just it's slow laggy nature, and how some gestures are less intuitive than Lomiri.
If phosh can be made faster, GREAT! But if Lomiri can get more functions sooner that would be ideal. LOMIRI just looks built ready to work. Almost like we just need to flick a couple switches that have already been turned on in most Phosh builds. Can we flick those switches already?
