Had this problem again and the reboot trick did not work.
Seems to be hanging with the command
manually running that command and / or stopping / starting does not help. Figured the service would restart with a reboot, so modified the package and commented out that line in the postinst script which seems to have worked. However it also stalled at other services that rely on fstrim.timer I suppose.
