The partition errors are red herrings, CrOS just uses an unusual partitioning scheme that some tools think is wrong. Plus if you dd the image onto a smaller disk, the backup GPT is in the wrong position, but it doesn't break anything.
What you probably need to look at are the UI/chrome logs under /var/log, if you've swapped in a mainline kernel you'll also need mesa compiled with panfrost support.
