Launcher3 and SystemUI constantly crash, tis a shame.  I'm not sure why there isn't anything newer, this last OS drop was 2 months ago.

Did you try rebooting or relaunching Spotify? Some of the apps I installed, on first run they start up in portrait then on second run they switch to landscape.
