How far should I insert the SIM card?

Is there an easy way to pull the SIM card out aside from using a sticky tape?

I'm not sure but it looks like you have a nano-sim, and the phone needs a micro-sim. If that is the problem try to get an adapter, they usually come with the sim card when you buy it.
