pinebook 14" sd card slot stopped working

Anyone run into this issue on the 14" pinebook?  I can't boot from the sd card nor does it see it after I boot from the eMMC. I had to disassemble it to remove the eMMC storage to flash via the eMMC to micro sd card adapter on another computer.  I can see/mount/read a thumb drive plugged into the usb port on the same daughter card that the micro sd card reader is on.  Not sure what device to search for in dmesg for this micro sd card reader or what to check.
