The good news is that this is already fixed in upstream mesa and in faster-moving distributions (e.g., Manjaro). The bad news is that Mobian has not picked up the fix yet.
Just upgraded mesa (yes it landed!).
Never lowered the brightness less than 25% just in case.
And the bug still occur to me, it just occurred right now, had to hard reboot (phone was not replying to pings / can't ssh).
Reading the journal, I don't see any activity (before the reboot) during the time I tried to wake it up, it looks like:

so clearly no activity here around 17:25 when I tried multiple time to press the power button before hard-rebooting it. I don't know what happen, any idea on how I could diagnose this? I bet serial over jack won't be of any help neither here...?
