Have inherited frozen braveheart
#1
Have "inherited" a Braveheart from a roomie. They said they could never get UBTouch to work well, so they replaced it with Mobian.

They eventually gave up on it, so now I'm trying to make a go of it.

The Problem: now it only boots to the splash screen and completely locks up.  The battery has to come out to turn it off.

It also won't boot from any SD card, I've tried about 5 or 6 with Jumpdrive or an OS on them - nothing.

So can someone tell me if there's a way to send this phone into a factory reset when starting it up?

There is a reset button inside the back cover next to the modem - I have never had to use it so cannot be sure when you should push/release nor quite what to expect.

From your description I fear the mainboard is most of the way to meeting its maker: if you can't get any SDcard image to boot then the SDcard reader is presumably dead and who knows what other issues there are. But doubt the reset button will clear them.
  • ROCKPro64 v2.1 2GB, 16Gb eMMC for rootfs, SX8200Pro 512GB NVMe for /home, HDMI video & sound, Bluetooth keyboard & mouse. Arch (6.2 kernel, Openbox desktop) for general purpose daily PC.
  • PinePhone Pro Explorer Edition, daily driver, rk2aw & U-boot on SPI, Arch/SXMO & Arch/phosh on eMMC
  • PinePhone BraveHeart now v1.2b 3/32Gb, Tow-boot with Arch/SXMO on eMMC

How exactly have you been writing the image to the SD cards? Some people have reported the SD cards are unbootable when written with one tool, only to find the same cards work when written a different way. I think it was Etcher on Windows (and possibly others?) that caused problems but I might be mistaken.
