lost settings icon from screen

After today's upgrade, I have no settings icon on my screen.

Does anyone know what I need to do to render it visible again?

I can ssh on to the phone and use 'apt update'

I suggest you to first install mc. When running mc in the ssh shell, go to the folder  /usr/share/applications

There you will find all .desktop files and you can find out whether the one for settings is missing or corrupted.
