Screen has to be on to comunicate with phone

I installed ssh and samba and they work fine. No problems to communicate with the phone.

However, to be able to connect via ssh or samba, the screen has to be on. If phone is left unattended, screens turn black and communication stops.

is phone sleeping when the screen turns black? I checked in Power settings, and the Black screen can be modified. This should only save energy for the screen but not sleep the phone, or does it?

In my experience this happens when crust kicks in to put the phone to sleep. I believe this is the case because this causes the wifi to cut out which would obviously make ssh lose the connection.

Turn off the default 'sleep after 5 minutes' in the Power settings, or leave the phone plugged into a charger.
