is my eMMC broken or am I wrong?

Hi
I bought one eMMC from pine64.org and it's my first time to use eMMC.
I'm not sure whether I'm doing wrong or this is broken.
What I've tried is,

1. using eMMC to microUSB adapter

I bought this. but doesn't work. my PC can't read it.
this video shows some SD card reader is not compatible with the adapter.
so maybe my one as well.




2. writing an Image to eMMC module according to this tutorial

I followed until step 6, but I can't see mmcblk0. only mmcblk1 shows up from 5-7 tries.
left block is a log when I followed the tutorial and right is a log I used sd card only.
I removed jumper before I type boot command.




How do you think?

yeah, not sure what board you want the emmc to fit onto but the instructions you link are for a rock64 and they specifically state that the emmc must be installed in the rock64 and not an adapter.

Oh, sorry. That's two separate methods I've tried. I have rock64 4GB board. eMMC and sd card are installed on the board in the second method.

my guess is the jumper is not registering correctly, i.e however you jumper the pins is not working

I tried with jumper pin and jumper wire. both didn't work. I checked continuity of it with a multimeter (pic below is just for showing jumper. I installed eMMC and sd card when I test)
hmm... Is there anyway that I can figure out this eMMC is working properly? So that I can decide to buy emmc to usb adapter from pine64.org or buy new eMMC?

you could try this. but since this thread is in pine64 category why not create a new thread in rock64 category and link new infos there plus a link to this thread for historical reference.

yes, but it is pine64 top category which is a category actually started when the pine64 was the only board. feel free to place your posts where ever you want it. historically it has been considered by many to find the most specific section/category related to you question hence my suggestion to use rock64 since your issue concerned the rock64. i think there is even a general section sub-category in the rock64 section.

self answer : it was OS image bug. I used ayufan's OS ver 0.6.5. it's disappeared since ver 0.6.6.
