Can't write to SD card w/ Adapter

I'm trying to update the image on my MicroSD card, but its telling me its read only. I looked at the adapter, and there is the "Lock" text and a hole where a switch should be, but there is no switch.

Help??

Ditch the adapter and use a card reader that reads the micro-SD directly? They're cheap if you do a little shopping.

I don't use the adapters often at all (in fact, if you're US based, send me your address and I'll send a couple absolutely free of charge.. ..), the one I'm looking at has a slider to "lock".

Well both my Macs have SD card readers built in, so the adapter is handy. I ended up ordering another MicroSD card which comes with an adapter, since I want a second card for testing.

Yeah looks I have a bum one. There is place for the lock slider, it just isn't there!
