(ARCHIVED) Ubuntu Xenial Image (BSP Kernel)
Well this sounds strange. The only thing that happens on the first boot is generating keys. This takes a lot of computing power. May be the power supply is not sufficient for this and when HDMI is connected extra power is available through HDMI.

If the board does not not, do you know what the error is? Where is it stuck? How did you find out that it did not boot?

i knew that power could come from connected usb but was not aware that the same is true for hdmi. that would explain some issues i've noticed before on my boards.

The HDMI spec specifies that this is to be a minimum of 55ma @ 5v (how much more than this is dependent on the manufacturer and device), so this indeed possible if the 5v pin is wired into the pine64's 5v line.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm using a 2A supply which I reckon should be sufficient so don't think this is the issue.

As I'm a new forum member I'm currently restricted to one message a day so I've opened an issue for further discussion at https://github.com/longsleep/build-pine6.../issues/51
Hi, could you please link me exact post where I can found out how to switch from 1080p to 720p?

Yesterday I installed latest longsheep's image with MATE, everything is going allright on 1080p monitor, now I want to switch to 720p and test my 1050p native resolution monitor with HDMI -> VGA or HDMI -> DVI adapter.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: ok, so after hundred times of "try & fail" and several destroyed Ubuntu installations I managed to get few things working, for now I'm OK with it Smile

EDIT2:
1080p monitor, 2.1 mA / 5V power supply, internet connection, mouse+keyboard, Xenial image written to SD card via Win32Disk Imager, this is first boot with all periphetals connected. It "feels" like with every boot the SD card is corrupted more and more.

I am still looking how to use it with Nexdock screen of 1366 x 768 pixels. If anyone knows how I need to change configuration on PINE64/Ubuntu/longsleep please let me know.
Guys, could you please point me to some guide how to add my own 1680x1050 and 1920x1200 DVI resolutions to fresh https://github.com/ayufan-pine64/linux-b.../tag/0.7.2 and how to build it to support these resolutions. Thanks!

i have not tried it yet so don't know for certain if it is functional  but there is a DVI switch in the config txt file so that might get you a screen that is the proper colors

Thanks, I know about that and it worked somehow on one of 0.6 builds, but I have no luck with 0.7.
Everything display related will be up in the air in the 0.7.x series for a while, due to the MALI integrations... so you may be better sticking with the 0.6.x builds until the dust settles, unless you enjoy fighting with the code to try and get it working, with no guarantee that it will work :-P The 0.7.x builds are pre-release for a reason.
